Vargas used to drink Gatorade during fights.. Oscar bitched about it before their fight and therefor he had to drink water..

Gatorade contains Maltodextrin, the best form of carbs you can possibly take DURING exercise.

Maltodextrin prevents the body to use protein as an energy source, but the body only keeps very small amounts stored in the muscles.

I think it's allowed, it's not on any drug list...

IF they are allowed how come I never see any fighters sipping them? they should allow the fighters to sip these drink like gatorade and powerade it will also be good for sponsorship of the fighters! the fighters could make extra cash being sponsor by supplements.

Are you sure it wasnt Shane Mosley? I remember it being an issue, I just dont think it was DelaHoya cuz i wouldnt remember that far back, maybe it was both.

I think Lederman said on a broadcast once that the sanctioning bodies only allow water now.

It was Golden Boy Promotions who didnt allow Vargas to drink the Gatorade, but it was for the 2nd Mosley fight. heres a quote and a link to the artile.

A Nevada district court judge on Friday evening issued a temporary restraining order that will prevent Fernando Vargas from drinking Gatorade in his corner between rounds of his junior middleweight rematch against Shane Mosley on Saturday night.

Mosley's claim was that Vargas could have an unfair advantage in the fight. Mosley trained using water during sparring and did not know how his body would react if he used a sports drink. Vargas, meanwhile, used a sports drink during his training camp and his body has already adjusted to using it.

wasnt that the mosley fight? from what i know they dont allow the fighters before the second mosley vargas fight but shane and em got a TRO aginst the implementation of the rule allowing gatorade if im not mistaken.
