The reason this fight did well is because everyone knew it was going to be a close, competitive, action-packed fight. When Pac fought the rematch with MAB, everyone expected Pac to win easily. Same thing with the last Morales fight...

Your the one claiming Pacquiao was the only draw in the fight.. not I!
Therefor we have to look at Pacs numbers to see if he makes as much on his own!

It's a fact that Marquez was part of a record breaking PPV buys. He can brag that to Morales and Barrera's face....(who has overshadowed him throughout his career).

The conditions for each of the Manny-Barrera, Manny Morales fights were different to this last Manny-Marquez fight. In the first Barrera fight, Manny wasn't well known {I recall ONLY Larry merchant asking rhetorically, whether Barrera could stand up to the power of this Phillipine kid, if he came up in weight, who's been "knocking them all over". This was LONG before their first fight, when they believed Barrera to be all-powerful and were wondering who could give him decent opposition}, and Barrera was expected to win easily. After blasting him, Manny was regarded either as a new phenom, or a flash in the pan. He lost to Morales, but then showed his great superiority by blasting him out twice. His next fight with Barrera was really a "gimme" for Barrera to make a big payday, because he was well on the downgrade, and Manny either didn't want to, or wasn't able to add to his KO trail of chopped down Mexican fighters. But I noticed the even his KO's of these fighters, decisive as they were, didn't show the "best Manny".

Before this latest Marquez fight Manny had been showing signs of wearing down, being rather less impressive than the "bomber" of the Phillipines he'd shown himself to be. (In contrast, Freddie Roach has been upping the rhetoric to indicate the contrary, with a little precautionary "caveat" here and there about late nights and billiards, to excuse Manny's possible poorer performance). Marquez, who'd revived himself after the Chris John loss, was showing far more stability, craftiness and "smarts". This all made for a good match-up. NO-one, except rabid Manny fans, expected a "blast-out" of Marquez and the majority of knowledgeable fight followers felt that it would be a tactical, match of skills, ending either in a decision, or a late KO for Manny.

And basically that's what happened. Manny won the fight, My opinion only, but I can say that Manny looked MUCH older and settled both in appearance, boxing style and energy, than the "Ferocious Filipino" we're always expecting, and Marquez performed as expected, with many actually giving him the decision.

We may have already seen "The Best Manny", a couple of years ago, and maybe won't again. Just MY opinion.
