I caught the replay of it and damn, it was the first MMA fight that was abit exciting. That Cung Li guy was in like dominating fashion against Shamrock. Isn't Shamrock suppose to be legendary, whoop everyone's ass? The final round, I think it was the 3rd, it was back and forth stand up trading bombs. Unfortunately, I don't think it was enough to convince me to be a true fan because the majority of the fights do end up on the ground.
Anyone else saw Cung Li vs Frank Shamrock last night?

Maybe Im thinking of a different guy, but isnt Frank Shamrock old enough to have seen The Passions of the Christ live? -

I caught the 3rd round, good stuff. Frank looked like he caught Li with some good bombs toward the end of the round, but then looked like he threw his shoulder out or something before quitting.Comment

Most fights end up on the ground because most MMA fights are usually grapplers vs. grapplers, or, the striker isn't usually that great w/ their striking skills, so it doesn't pose that much of a problem for the grappler to take the striker down.I caught the replay of it and damn, it was the first MMA fight that was abit exciting. It wasn't the case last night. I've followed the careers of Cung's and Frank's. Cung in his prime is about as talented a striker as we'll see. Timing and distance, baby!Comment

i hate how mma fans say **** like,"well your a boxing fan so thats prolly why you enjoyed it because it was mostly all standup"
stfu up with that ****. ALL fans like it more when its stand up. Thats why you hear fans cheering more when they trade standing up rather than going on the ground.Comment

during the pre-fight stage frank swore that he would stand and trade with cung and beat him at his own game. he worked hard on his boxing and kept his word. and when they did trade fists frank did fairly well, showing decent upperbody movement, but in the end it was the overall accumulation of kicks that stopped frank. i'll give him props for never attempting the takedown, big props for cung coming in as the underdog.I caught the replay of it and damn, it was the first MMA fight that was abit exciting. sorry, kid, thats not always the case..some of the gorund action is awesome. And I ama boxing fan first and foremost, but watching two ju jit su (sp)..guys go at, break submission holds etc. its pretty exciting and you have to respect it. The fans WATCHING LIVE may boo because its hard to see whats going on when they are on the ground you are sitting in nose bleeds seats.i hate how mma fans say **** like,"well your a boxing fan so thats prolly why you enjoyed it because it was mostly all standup"
