Can anyone explain to me some boxing tactics?

I mean I understand what a counterpuncher is but I know there must be more to outboxing someone then that. So here's some questions

What subtle things should I look for to indicate to me who's marshalling the ring(besides just cutting of the ring)?

What other attributes are there to 'pure boxing'(by this I mean what makes SRL and SRR etc. be better boxers than say Hagler or Duran other than counter punching)

What tactics do southpaws employ that make it difficult for orthodox boxers to fight and beat them?

anyother tips or info you might want to tell me?

ask this question in training and nutrition.......oh and counter punchers and speedsters arent necesseraly better than walk up fighters.....southpaws are difficult as all they have to do is just start doin there thing and its all awkward....one trick is to get them on the back foot, usually works

      Here's a few things:

Movement and defense are obviously key with outboxers. If the outboxer is making the other guy miss and pay with clean effective punching, then even if the other guy is the aggressor in the fight, the outboxer is the one controlling the ring and the action. If he's coming in with combinations and getting out before the other guy can respond, the same deal. He's showing better defense, ring generalship, landing the better punches, and the other guy is an ineffective aggressor. For an example, since you mentioned SRL and Hagler(a controversial fight), if you've seen the fight in the early going SRL is moving all around the ring, landing quick bursts of soft punches. These shots didn't hurt Hagler at all, but they were flashy, and Hagler though constantly coming forward didn't really do anything, and couldn't get to Leonard with his more dangerous punches, so he was ineffective early and Sugar Ray was controlling things.

Southpaws are hard to fight against for a lot of reasons, the most obvious being the change of the normal angles in which an orthodox guy punches/defends. A southpaw is used to fighting orthodox guys all the time, most orthodox guys don't have the same experience vs southpaws.
