WE never though Lee had the skills. The only reason we know who Lee was is because of Emanuel Steward.
Gamboa was in INCREDIBLE amateur. He had this kind of hype surrounding him before he even turned pro.
And he has 400 amateur fights. He is perhaps twice as good as Casamayor ever was, and look what Casa achieved.
The only way Gamboa will be kept from the #1 p4p spot is if Cuba suddenly allows their amateurs to turn pro, and Guillermo Rigondeaux is allowed to fight as a pro.Last edited by !! Shawn; 03-29-2008, 09:48 PM.Comment

Ill tell you what tho, Lee had never fought anyone whatsoever before he got upset. Bamboa has already fought and defeated 3 different guys that are better than any of Lee's wins. I mean, the best opponent Lee had faced was an ancient Carl Daniels who was over a decade past his prime and hadnt won a fight in a long time...Gamboa also seems to have a lot more natural and physical ability than Lee as well
I do see that Gamboa has been knocked down before tho. has anyone seen this, was he actually hurt at all? was it a big shot, or does Gamboa have a suspect chin?Comment

If you threw Gamboa in the ring with Linares today, Linares would blow him out of the water.
Linares isn't the most physically gifted fighter, but he is SO smart. Gamboa needs more experience in the pro game before he is ready for someone like Linares.
However, once Gamboa is ready for Linares, no way Linares could beat him.Comment

some of you guys are getting a little ahead of yourselves. lets just call him an excellent prospect, and not start calling him p4p #1 already...
and Ill answer my own question, he has been knocked down, but it was basically a push, so we dont know how good his chin is yet.
Ill tell you what tho, this guy might get a DQ in his future. Ive been watching some of his fights, and he does some illegal stuff pretty consistantly if he doesnt blast his opponent away. This could be an advantage or a disadvantage in his future...either he is already very crafty and will have tricks to help him out with some difficult fighters, or he will end up getting point deductions/pulling a Golota or Terry Norris...
maybe a little bit of bothComment

I usually try not to get to excited about fighters this early in their careers, but I've seen this guy fight three times now and each time Im impressed even more. He does keep his hands low, but damn his reflexes are fast. Plus his hand speed is incredible with power.Comment
