Who hits Harder? Hopkins Or Calzaghe?

When Joe was young he hit hard and that is why his hands are fragile now. His hands werent as strong as his punches. He knocked Eubank down in the first round as well.
Berhard couldnt damage his own hands as he has no power. Well im not saying i would let BH hit me on the chin for free. But BH has many attributes other than hitting hard.Comment

If it wasn't for Calzaghes brittle hands, I'd say him.
But we just have to wait and see what happens to a Joe Calzaghe at 175, not that I think it's gonna make him a better puncher, since him gaining weight won't heal his hands !Comment

For the purposes of this fight I reckon Joe will be a big puncher because if he has to retire begause his metacarpals are made of dried twigs it won't be bad bowing out in a superfight against Poopkins.
Also Joe punches harder as the fight wears on, and if he gets hurt he forgets his brittle fingers.Comment

Calzaghe hits harder with his fists, but not as hard as he did back in the days when he KOed Veit in the first round.
Hopkins hits harder with his head, especially when he uses the ropes to propel himself into his opponent.Comment

Neither Hopkins and Calzaghe are big punchers right now which is funny because they were known for their power at the beginning of their careers.
Hopkins had 34 wins, 28 KO's (12 in the first round).
Calzaghe had 37 wins, 30 KO's (11 in the first round).
Calzaghe punches consistently, Hopkins counter punches with accuracy.
I think Calzaghe's workrate will win him this fight but he will take some counter punches like he did against Kessler.
Both can take punches so I don't believe we will see a KO in this fight.
Calzaghe will keep coming, he won't be bothered and Hopkins won't be overwhelmed unless he is truly too old to fight (it's possible that Hopkins has lost his reflexes becase of age and can't see the punches coming anymore).

Hopkins maybe.
He throws single sharp counters, they look like they hurt.
Joe barely sits down on anything at all. Unless he gets hurt. Then protecting his hands goes out the window as said. Joe is great to watch when he is hurt.Comment

I don;t think it even matters in this fight. They both hit hard enough to get the other's attention and that's what matters.
It's the one who is most effective in his strategy that will win. The one who has good defense the right angles, and the ability to capitalize on mistakes and not lose their head.
Both aren't killers, but both had pretty good ko ratio's in the 1990's.Comment
