Hatton: Gunning for Floyd again
Ricky Hatton will have to unify the IBO and IBF light-welterweight titles before another rematch against Floyd Mayweather.
The 'Hitman' is set to put his IBO light-welterweight title on the line against Juan Lazcano on 24th May in his first fight since going down to the 'Pretty Boy' in the first loss of his career.
IBF light-welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi will fight Lovemore N'dou on the undercard at the City of Manchester Stadium and it now appears the 'Magic Man' will get to fight Hatton before another showdown with Mayweather.
For his part, Mayweather still has to defeat his old foe the 'Golden Boy' Oscar de la Hoya but should all three bouts go as planned then Goldon Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer says the rematch is on.
"I had a conversation with the manager of Floyd Mayweather and he said that if Mayweather wins against Oscar de la Hoya on September 20 and Ricky wins a possible unification showdown against Paul Malignaggi then they would be open in the spring to coming over here to London to fight Ricky again," he told Sky Sports News.
First up for Hatton is his comeback fight against the 'Hispanic Causing Panic' Lazcano though, which can be viewed live on Sky Box Office on 24th May.
