He blew that opportunity at a University of Michigan training camp when he became involved in an altercation with Deion Sanders. According to Toney, during the tryout, he and Sanders got into a confrontation and exchanged words that escalated to the point where Toney hit Sanders. It was then that Toney realized that he was not a team player and decided to focus his attention on boxing."
Typically, the flamboyant, cigar-smoking Toney embellished a bit here. He admitted many years later he never had that run-in with Neon Deion, but as always with James Toney, it made for good copy
In other words it wasn't true.Comment

this makes sense, for the fact that there was no need for university of Michigan workouts for a southern boy who went to Florida State. Im sure Toney probably knocked out a Dion Sanders, whoever the **** that is.HBre is the part of the article:

Dion Sanders is a 6'1 former NFL player. But as you can see on the post you responded to, James Toney admitted that he exaggerated about what happend with Sanders. He did not even hit him.Comment
