If only Lacey would have thrown his jab more he could've taken Joe. I think in a rematch he would've eventually knocked Joe out by applying effective pressure and fighting HIS fight, not Calzaghe's. In the first fight Calzaghe was getting away with A LOT of holding and it threw Lacey off his game plan. Not to mention that the fight was at an odd hour for Lacey. In a rematch Dave Birmingham and the Lacey team could have tweaked a few minor things and he definitely would have been more aggressive and got his rhythm going early. There is no doubt in my mind that Lacey was drugged that night in the UK. I still hope a rematch is a possibility after Hopkins disposes of Calslappy.

Well against Calzaghe he was trying to fight back, he just couldn't. It seems he lost the will to fight or try even a little. He was hardly throwing in that fight but he did win rounds. He wouldn't have won a round against calzaghe we it not for the point deduction.

As much a I wish I could agree with the thread starter.....I don't. I have no question that was not that was not the Jeff Lacy we were used to seeing but I think it was more Joes Speed than anything else. Lacy did not throw a combo nearly the entire fight which is not like him and as usual did not use his very underrated jab but either way it should have been much more of a competetive fight.......With the same result tho.
