    Who was favored in Gatti-Leija?

Was Gatti supposed to win that fight according to most experts before the fight?

Yeah, he was supposed to win in an entertaining fashion.

If I remember correctly, Gatti was about a 2-1 favorite.

That would be correct. 2-1 in favor of Gatti. I was at the fight and he threw a ton of jabs. He boxed so well that he tricked everyone into thinking he had even a slight chance against Mayweather.

I guess that kind of makes me understand the Henry Bruseles fight more. It was called a WBC final eliminator, which would make Floyd the top contender to fight Gatti, if he got past Leija, which was one week after the Bruseles fight.

Still not a tremendously brilliant move for Floyd, but at least he didn't actually get into the ring with Henry Bruseles just because.
