Who Can Winky Wright Beat At This Point?

I voted Edison Miranda, Roy Jones and Allen Green. The others are close though... Apparently Lacy who used to spar with Winky when they were both trained by Birmingham put Winky on his ass leading up to the Calzaghe fight.

roy has 0 stamina, bad defense-bad chin-bad legs-0 technique on how to cut off the ring, punches form too far.....


you saw how he lost 4 rounds to trinidad, how he almost got his ass ebat by hanshaw.....i dont think roy can be not-cautious anymore......winky would beat him easily...im more sure of him beating roy than even miranda...at least miranda could get a lucky shot in....

His defense improved in his past few fights.. Coincidentally, he's biting Winky's style with the occasional high guard now..

But I don't agree about the stamina. He fought late against Hanshaw, and withstood some crisp bodyshots from Trinidad, after cutting down to 170 for the first time in nearly a decade. I think he's well conditioned.

Honestly, i can care less if i ever see Winky fight on t.v ever again. I was never much a fan of his peekaboo then jab style. It seems as if he fights just to make it to the 12th, hoping he gets the nod, instead of bringing the pain to his opponents, and trying to win by a decisive margin.

People will say "he's not boring, he throws alot of punches" Ok, yes he might throw punches, but they have absolutely zero power behind them. He kind've reminds me of Ouma. They both throw a bunch of steamless punches.

I would only be interested in seeing Winky fight Pavlik. It will be like watching a kid block his face when his mother is going to hit him! LOL.

Pavlik, Taylor and Abraham are the only ones who could or would fight at 160 which is where Winky needs to fight at because he couldn't carry 170 against Hopkins. None of the others could go to middle to fight him. But if they could only Calzaghe, Kessler, Roy and maybe Miranda based off of his power could beat him.

i think Calzaghe is the only one who beats him almost 100% surely...

Andrade-Green-Miranda-Lacy-Jones Jr are almost sure fire wins for winky IMO...even though he is on his last legs...

Abraham-Taylor-Pavlik have the fame-flashiness-power to get a robbery decision over wright...but in reality, winky beats them....

kessler id favor 70/30 over winky....he has the fame-flashiness-power-skills and particularly SIZE to get a 8-4 decision over winky.....but winky does have a quick southpaw 1-2...and kessler got dominated by calzaghe's 1-2, so i wouldnt count winky out....hes surprised me before...i though b-hop had ALL advanatges to get a KO over wink.....and wink whooped his ass...

come on man, wink has had 1 fight above 160.....i reckon the only ones he'd fight above 160 are calzaghe and jones.... he beats jones, gets beat by calz...

at 160 theres only pavlik....and off of pavlik's lack of accuracy and speed, im almost sure winky beats him and gets robbed...and the boxing community will say bull**** like pavlik threw more(like they ever care for that unless its a popular guy) and he has more power(even though its very difficult to get CLEAN shots at winky)

he fought late vs hanshaw because he threw 10 punches around for like 7 rounds...im surprised people didnt see that as a close fight...i barely had roy winning 115-112....and his punches looked awful he was shooting 5 inches before hansaw was in his firing range....

he fought late vs trinidad because he let trinidad punch the **** out of his arms for 5 rounds....losing 4...firing like 10 punches

roy has always ate body shot like crazy, teyre no issue for someone who has an armor of muscles, lol...

his bad imitation of winky is insulting, he cuts off the ring pathetically, he stands too straight, he can only counter because of his fast hands and can only pull the shell off because he only guards his head(he can let bodyshots hit im because they dont ahve much of an effect on him....), his shell is only putting his arms in front of his head...he cnat do all the parrying and leading winky does....


you know i love roy...but i wish he just retires.....he's a KO waiting to happen...

That's my biggest problem with Winky. I'm definitely not saying that he's a boring fighter- I think a distinction needs to be made.

Boring is when you do all the neccesary things to win but just don't show too much "flash".. That's part of Winky- and I have no problem with that. Technical fighters are my favorite kinds. But what I feel is wrong with Winky is that he has no DRIVE. He's not a hungry, driven fighter in the ring. You need reference? Check out the Vargas fight. Check out the end of the Taylor.

the 8 rounds he fought, he won(whooping ass is too strong a word...)...the other ones were a clinch fest because as always, winky was tired and thought he had already won 8 rounds......i hold it against wink that he doesnt learn he wont get close decisions......

in fact i wouldnt have problem if people said bernard's flurries and size(along with his dirty fighting) won him teh fight vs wink....i could certainly see bernard was stealing the drama of the fight with much more showy flashes...but when ****** people try to say bernard neutralised wink's jab(most landed punch of the fight), got clean right hand shots at wink(like 1 per round) beat him on the inside(50 shots at winkys legs-back-ass)
i find those people the most idiotic beings ever...

I hear what you're saying. But compare Winky's technical style to that of JMM's. U can tell Marquez puts everything on the line when he fights, and takes nessesary risks if and when he has to. Winky doesnt. He focuses to much on NOT getting hit, rather than inflicting damage on his opponents.
