Well, it's interesting, but obviously Watson wouldn't have fought like that against Benn! So if Watson came out like Linford Christie, as he did in his second Eubank fight, Benn would have found the punches to knock him over soon enough, because he was a much more natural puncher than Eubank.
I honestly think Watson would have always beaten Nigel Benn (unless he came out like Linford Christie, ofcourse), I just think he had his number, measuring him and arrowing in like he did, I just kind of can't visualise Benn ever beating Watson.
Benn did have terrific lateral upper body movement under Tibbs, but really wasn't quite as dynamic as he was at middleweight, and still was prone to losing concentation here and there or being clumsy here and there.
The Watson who fought Eubank the second time, the way he was letting his punches go and the strength he showed inside, and how sharp he was throughout, better than the Benn who fought Eubank the second time, yes, definitely, way. Eubank was very cumbersome that cold night at Old Trafford, no balance and all his punches slaps, looked about 14 stone, so Benn just out-hustled him inside.
