    Exposed vs Beaten

There seems to be a lot of talk on here lately about fighters being "exposed." I think there's a difference between getting beat and getting exposed. Getting beat just means you lost, plain and simple. Getting exposed means major flaws in a fighter that weren't supposed to be there were uncovered and exploited. There's more to a fighter's expose than simply being a hyped/popular guy who loses a fight. I'd like to see how everyone else defines this stuff, with an example if they'd like to add one. For instance, Lacy got exposed like a motha****a against Joe C. (slow hands, no defense, inability to clinch when stunned, no plan B when **** went wrong, lack of combination punching) Paul Williams against Quintana: good fighter outboxed by the better man in a good fight- not exposed, just beaten.

I thought Williams was "exposed" a bit against Quintana but i agreed witht he rest.

Katsidis was not exposed at all, he was caught badly in a fight he was probably winning

Lee was exposed in a few areas, but overall i would just say he was beaten

I agree, and I will even go further to say that I don't believe in being "exposed" in boxing. Every boxer has flaws and sometimes their opponent either takes advantage of them or simply is better on that night.

Except for a select few, everyone takes a loss in this sport and people should not read too much into it and instead look at their entire body of work.

Anytime you are defeated your vulnerabilities are exposed somewhat. But to label every unbeaten fighter with that tag is ridiculous hyperbole. For example Juan Diaz was simply outfought by a better fighter that night. He could easily improve enough to regain a title or win a rematch. Paul Williams was only "exposed" to those who wildly overrated him based on one big win. But like the threadstarter said, Jeff Lacy would be a classic example of a fighter who was exposed when he was showcased on the highest level.

True true, Katsidis was beaten in a close fight and he is pretty inexperienced. Lacy is the definition of exposed imo lol
