Has Joel Casamayor redeemed himself in your eyes?

In my opinion, I believe he has. I dont know if Katsidis had ever been dropped in the first round or ever 2 times in one round, but that was pretty impressive on Casa's behalf. Yes, he DID clinch many times but he also boxed BEAUTIFULLY and engaged with Katsidis even when he was hurt. Katsidis obviously was the aggressor was trying to make sure the fight didnt end up in the judges cards, but Casamayor ALSO came to fight and he had more tricks and weapons in his arsenal.

I expected Casamayor to look better than he did his last fight. The knockdowns were commendable, and he looked good at different points - but he was on his way to a loss. Katsidis bailed him out. That's the reality of it. If the consensus is that a younger version of Casamayor destroys Katsidis then no, I can't say I'm very impressed. Only somewhat slightly impressed.

Katsidis was an unknown. Casamayor is proven and has beaten the fighters for that case to be made. katsidis is so raw , the fact that he was on his way to victory but ****ed up speaks volumes of CASAMAYORS future.

I agree with david, Katsidis looked like **** in some ways like his jab was so pathetic and barely saw him throw a jab. As I said on another topic, I know that he has smaller arms then Joel but still the jab is a very important punch to set up other punches. This fight doesn't prove much about Joels future, thats why I think Nate Campbell will beat Joel if they have a rematch. And also Katsidis fought Joels fight by coming forward, when you fight someone like joel you don't chase after him the entire fight you make him come to you. These boxers all make the same mistakes, hatton did the same ****. They chase the defensive style fighters around the ring*dumb ****ing move because it is tiring, from the opening bell you have them chase you around the ring= smart move*

Hatton fought Mayweathers fight, and Katsidis fought Joels fight.

Yes, for his age. If this happened with Casamayor 4 years ago, I'd say he was shot. But he's 36 at 135 pounds. What he did against a young, hungry champion is very impressive to me.

36 at 135 or lower is impressive. Not to mention that EVEN if you think the Santa Cruz fight was a robbery, it's not too hard to forgive. He doesn't score the fights and he's been robbed himself. Probably in all three fights that he's lost.

I felt for Casamayor against Freitas. Tonights fight was Casa having enough war experience to overcome the shift in momentum. His time is up, he is old after all. Casa is shifty and cagey , he knows what to throw when it presents itself. Katsidis was on his way to victory, but I wonder if he would be recognized as RiNG CHAMP???

I agree- Casamayor was on the freeway to losing. Katsidis was looking really poor at times and yet Casa couldn't fully capitalize. That said, I think we can't help but give Casamayor points for the KO- I mean Katsidis was a young, hungry fighter with a good punch...and what many labeled as the Old Man just knocked him out. Take the victory into context, sure, but in terms of redemption compared to his last fight- he looked light years more impressive to me.

Oh no, I totally agree that Katsidis is largely unproven. It's not like Casamayor proved he's in his prime tonight. He did win a fight that could be seen as an uphill battle, though. Yes, Katsidis lost the fight with carelessness more than anything- but Casamayor just stepped into the ring as the old, past-his-prime fighter against a young, hungry power puncher- even if unproven- and knocked him out. What that does is put him in position to go out with a ****, you know?
