Joel Casamayor Vs. Michael Katsidis + surrounding possible scenarios...

First off let me say this; Casamayor Vs. Katsidis was a (and i try not to over use this word but i think its fitting) GREAT fight.

What a back and fourth fight...

    Multiple knockdowns

    cuts; bruises; swelling

    we seen it all.

Casamayor began strong (like i expected minus the knockdowns). my jaw literally dropped when i say the first knockdown in the first round...i expected casamayor's experience to carry him to win the first 1/3 or 1/2 of the fight but i didnt expect him to knock down katsidis at all...let alone 3 times...

However Katsidis really showed a TON of heart by coming back and hurting casaymayor. i was surprised by that because after the second/third round it looked like casaymayor was just going to be too much and maybe katsidis wasnt the guy to beat casamayor after all...but much props to katsidis...he duked it out and hurt him and knocked him down (through the ropes).

At that point casaymayor was hurt and holding on and then it appeared katsidis was pulling away with it but then what a punch...katsidis helped out by stepping into that punch but what a knockdown...that might be one of the best knockDOWN's of the 2008...best knockout of 2008? well i dont know if that will be true...but it was a very impressive knockdown by casamayor.

Originally i thought casamayor would start strong and fade with a katsidis knockout win around the 8th round...and it almost came true...

but take nothing away from either fighter...it was one of the top fights of the year.

we arent even completely 1/4th through 2008 and we have had some GREAT fights.

Now the questions begin...who should fight who and so on...

i think the most LIKELY/LOGICAL scenario is Michael Katsidis Vs. Juan Diaz or Michael Katsidis Vs. Nate Campbell...

Michael Katsidis Vs. Juan Diaz is probable due to the fact they both had their first loss and it would help determine possibly the "weakest link" in the lightweight division

Michael Katsidis Vs. Nate Campbell is also probable due to the fact that campbell wants a shot at casamayor but casamayor doesnt want to give it to him and said he'd rather go for the big money fight...so campbell is eager to get a shot and since he beat diaz katsidis is basically the only other opponent he could beat to get that rematch vs. casamayor...(and dont argue with me on that because before anyone says it, i will...if campbell were to somehow get a fight with pacquiao then after that fight he doesnt need casamayor to get good fights)...

For Casamayor i think more than likely he will get a payday fight now...

    why?

well first of all it was a very impressive win for him and has boosted his name.

i think a fight with pacquiao isnt out of the question... with a fight like this you deserve a good payday fight...it was truely a fight of heart...its hard NOT to respect these two fighters after tonights fight...

and no i dont think the knockout stoppage was premature (max kellerman is an idiot; dont listen to him). katsidis was out on his feet; shakey legs, he was in danger of real damage...

i PERSONALLY would like to see Juan Diaz v. Nate Campbell II (the first was a good fight and i think without that cut via a headbutt diaz would have won) and i wouldnt mind seeing this one again either (since it was so close and each man had been hurt at one point or another in the fight...why not see it again)

    your thoughts? opinions?

Great fights so far this year...

It was a pretty sweet fight. I wanna see Diaz-Katsidis but it wont happen. BOth guys will probably take tune up fights that they will win by KO.

Hopefully they meet after that though, cause Diaz-Katsidis is gonna be awsome

that fight right there would be a war and would be great as long as it would last (we all know better than to think it would go 12 rounds)...

see what were looking at...a bunch of great scenarios that any one of those fights could be a serious contender for fight of the year...

picking up were 07 left off i see...

        Yea should be awsome.

I feel bad for Katsidis though. They shouldnt have gone after such an awkward opponent. Casamayor is sooo slick that Katsidis was forced to lunge all the time and he got caught.

Against fighters that stand and trade or fighters that try to box but not awkwardly or elusively, are made for Katsidis.

He would beat Campbell IMO, for example. that would be a terrific fight. Hopefully Katsidis can score a big win, Campbell will beat Casa, and then we can get a Katsidis-Campbell fight going.

Would love to see it again, but Joel can't dodge Santa Cruz. Katsidis will be back and so will Juan Diaz, maybe against each other. Throw Campbell into the mix while Pac is fighting David Diaz and you got a jumble of good fights for the 135 lb division this year.

exactly...thats another possible scenario that makes for a very good fight...

seems like its easier to make good fights happen this year than last year...
