One of the worst stoppages I've seen after watching boxing for 30 years. Lee was ahead on every scorecard, scored a knock down and was throwing back the whole time. Lee looked tired, but he was hardly unable to defend himself or in any serious danger. IMHO, when a fighter is easily winning a fight he should be giving a chance to get his second wind. It's not like Lee was even close to being knocked down, he took some good shots, but he was also landing some good shots in return. It's not a tickling contest ya know...

It was a bad stoppage for one reason, people wanted to see the brutal KO coming to Andy Lee. The ref saved him from the inevitable. Stoppage was good for the health of the fighter. He was get caught with flush shots over an over again.

At first glance it looks like a horrible stoppage because Lee landed some shots just prior, however Lee looked like absolute **** and was obviously taking serious punishment. I think this is a case of the ref taking into consideration that you have a 23 year old kid in the ring that is still very green and made his decision on that. If it was a championship fight, I doubt the ref would have stopped, but again, since he's so young and obviously still learning, he made the decision.

I cant be mad about that. He has a career a head of him, if the ref didn't stop it, it may have been shortened a whole lot.

Maybe there was a small change that Lee could have came back, but I doubt it. You never know, if the ref didn't do anyhing, Lee might be in the hospital right now with serious injuries, or worse. The good news is Lee will live to fight another day and learn from this fight.

Very weak stoppage IMO,props to Vera anyway

Im pretty impressed how much knowledge Anthony Peterson has,hes only 23,and knows alot about boxing,he was pointing out Lee's mistakes, and even saying he was suprised Stewerd didnt tell him to go to the body more,if u watch Peterson fight,he throws pretty much every shot in the book,he knows boxing well

Bad stoppage, ref should have left Vera kill him...

I see what you're saying maybe he could've made it to the bell. though it wasn't like Pavlik-Taylor one where Pavlik took a a quick flurry, went down, got back up and regained himself to the bell, then returned stronger the next. Lee was staggering around like a lamb going to the slaughter house. He looked out of it, and had no chance to take another three and a half rounds of beating..

After watching that again. That stoppage was definitely questionable. Im not gonna say horrible because Andy didn't look in good shape. He might have gone down in a heap a little later on, but Andy was still throwing decent punches. I think in the end if you are a fan of Lee you thought the stoppage was bad and if you had doubts about him before this than you thought it was a good stoppage.

Lee should have been giving the opportunity though. If Lee was not responding or got knocked down a few times or even once, the stoppage would have made sense. Lee was landing many good shots and also knocked Vera down. Lee never stopped throwing back. He took some good shots in the final round, but he also landed some good ones as well. I will always prefer the fighters determine the winner, not the referee.

I would have been pissed off if I got a standing eight count in the amateurs if I was firing back.

Lee's got what it takes eating all power shots but has a very poor defense w/c absolutely no good for his health. I agree the ref was very much concern about the damage and got no choice. Lee could have go on though if he was defending properly.
