real quick look up the definition of Professional and tell me what it means.

yes Mayweather makes an obscene amount of money, but that's the world of pro sports for you.

why do you think A-Rod signed that $252 Mill. Contract
or LeBron James signed a $90 Mill. Nike Contract.

Chances are your favorite player didn't "sell out" by signing with the rival team, it just might be that rival team offered more $$.

Currency runs pro sports. and again why is this author getting so much props for stating the obvious?

**if you want to see real "love of the game" check out the College Hoops Tourney this month, or college sports in General.

it's a far cry from the whiny NBA players who complain about not getting enough $$$ (why do you think there was a lock out in the 1999 season?)

and even get traded in some cases.
Agreed. Every athelete wants to make the most money possible. But Floyd has become obsessed with it. He named himself money for crying out loud, and is infamous for "making it rain". I don't see A-Rod doing those things.

On the 24/7 series, if Floyd wasn't talking about Hatton/De La Hoya, or himself, he was talking about money. 90% of the jokes he made to his friends were about money.

well come on pro baseball and pro boxing are apples and oranges .. and why A-Rod doesn't make it rain, probably because he's got a better sense of "character" then Floyd.

everyone knows Floyd's only doing one fight this year, why not make some extra cheddar on the side?

yes Wrestlemania with the Big Show is ridiculous. but if Floyd beats Big Show, and Oscar beats Forbes, we're talking about a huge fight.

yes he jokes about money, and no it isn't funny, it's pretty lame and kinda classless,

so here's my question deliveryman. Everyone knows by now Floyd loves money, Why write an article about it (Floyd's love of money) showing that point over again?

it seems kinda like a waste of time to tell people what they already know.

If I wrote an article saying grass is green and the sky is blue, would I get "props" for it?

"How would it look if the Celtics, who are considered to be the best team in the NBA (best record) were given a choice to play whoever they wanted for ridiculous amounts of money and they chose to play against The Heat?"

that's impossible because in the NBA team, every team plays against each other, it's a requirement of the schedule

for those who do not know. Boston (an East team) plays EVERY team in the East 4 times. 2 at home and 2 on the road. and every West team Boston plays twice. once at Boston, and once on the road.

It's a nice idea, but with an 82 game schedule David Stern and the NBA have more control over who plays who then the Boston Celtics

nice try, but I'll give you a B- for the effort. every team in the NBA plays every team, that's how it's always been. nice try though.

you completely missed the point of my post and this "everyone is just jealous of floyd's money" **** is already getting ****ing tired.

its as simple as this. fighting for the most money doesnt mean you'll be fighting the best. being popular doesnt indicate that you are the best.

Yeah we all know Floyd is all about money, but I think this article was brought up because of the situation with Floyd and Roger. It's pretty bad when Floyd get's on his family members for getting in the way of him making money. I mean the guy already has enough.

fair enough. I dig that. no one's saying Floyd is fighting the best (has anyone said that?)

he's rematching De La Hoya, someone he already beat. that speaks for itself fight?

I think we're in agreement that Mayweather can find a better opponent then a 35 year old he already beat.

and likewise, i think Floyd's attitude regarding money have really negatively effected his popularity, or at least I would think. fighting DLH is clearly a financial move, which was seen not just by the author but numerous fans
*which relates to Incu's point that yes, forcing his uncle to quit training Forbes is pretty ****ed up

and still, the point remains that Mayweather's only fight is September vs DLH. why not pick up some excess pay days with Wrestlemania and etc?

but it is such a tremendous waste of time, IMO to have 6 more months to build up to a DLH/Floyd 2.

frankly im focused on other fights, and won't bother buying the rematch. HBO can suck $54.95 off of someone else.

I don't think anybody has a problem with Floyd taking control of his career or that he makes a lot of money. It's just that he talks about money all the time and it pretty much runs his life. His love of money has gotten so big that even some of the fans are tired of hearing it. Money isn't everything to some people.

sorry for having a life outside of here, lol. I've been away for awhile. can you forgive me?

Hatton fought Urango, Calzaghe fought Manfredo, and lets not forget Wlad fighting Ray Austin.

sure DLH and Hatton both have their flaws (Hatton being small for 147 and DLH with his stamina problems)

but compared to other Elite's opponent choice (Manfredo, Austin, Urango)

it's double edged IMO. Hatton was Top 10 Pound for Pound ranked at the time, and undefeated.

yes was and still is small for 147.

it's how you look at it, half empty (Hatton=too small)
or half full (Hatton undefeated and #8 Pound For Pound)

regardless Cotto-Mayweather should happen in 2009.

*and you are right though, it is such a shame to see an exciting sport like boxing miss out on all these potentially great fights, because of fighters chasing the bigger pay days and PPV buys.

in a perfect world, we'd already be talking about Cotto-Mayweather happening just 1 fight for example.

money symbolizes control in boxing..... and Floy is smart.... he seen brothers he grew up with and boxed am with have their careers fall by the way with no support from the game..... he knows his health could be destroy by one fight...... therefore he not gonna be a plaything for an uncaring sport and its uncaring fans....... he gonna call the shots and talk money money money.... the only thing that matters to him in boxing...... he a fighter not a fan.... Floy look after himself first.... and then he look after his brothers....... you cant fault him unless your a hatin ****in idiot...... he doing everythin the smart way.
