Bigger draw.....Mayweather/De La Hoya II or Mayweather/Cotto?????

I made this argument before..


While Floyd vs. Cotto right now will be a good Fight
(i would like too see it)
It wouldn’t be as big De La Hoya
and it wouldnt be as Great as it could of been if Cotto would have gotten to 2other belts


Floyd vs. De La Hoya Last fight Numbers: 2.15 P.P.V Combined

Even if half those People dont buy that fight this time it would still do better than what Floyd vs. Cotto right now would do...

Floyd is Spoiled Now, He is not fighting in anything less than Events from now on....and his last 2 fights have been Events to not just the Boxing World but for the Sport and Entertainment world...

Look how much Promoting Floyd had to do for the Hatton FIGHT....

Look what he is doing for the next De La Hoya Fight

Now what do you think he is going to have to do for the Cotto fight if he chooses to fight him right now...

Floyd is not going to do anything special for the Cotto and Arum to build this fight

Floyd is expecting Cotto and Arum to do something Special to build this fight Simply because he does not like Arum ..

And that something Special is Getting those other 2 belts..So it can make up for Cotto not having the personality to be a mainstream Attraction ....

Cotto is not a Draw outside of Boxing Yet so he has no choice but to get those belts to fight Floyd or become a mainstream Attraction...And Floyd knows Cotto doesnt have a personality so the only option Cotto has is to become GREAT. and get those 2 belts.!!!...

This is what I have been trying to say forever...
Cotto Stock isnt high enough to really convince Floyd and the Public that this could be a big event...

No matter how we argue. at the end of the day Cotto or Floyd is not bigger than De La Hoya....

Floyd is getting there....
But Cotto is no where near it...

It more like saying you want to bet me some money on a fight but when I ask where is the money you want to bet me, you say I will show you the money after the fight...???

And naturally I tell you no show me the money right now or no bet....
and we end up not betting because you didnt have the money.

The point is Cotto doesnt have the money to bet...

And You can’t begin negotiations unless you have something to negotiate with....!

And Cotto doesnt have enough to negotiate with...

What was Hatton's highest grossing UK PPV numbers prior to his fight with Floyd? I wasn't even half of what it was with his fight with Floyd.

Granted, it wasn't Mayweather's "name" that sold the fight in the UK, it was his "status" as boxing's best. It was a chance for all the people in the UK to see their boy at the top of the boxing world, and that's what sold the fight in the UK. So when Floyd said that he was the draw (not his name, his status as P4P #1), he would be correct, even in the UK.

Cotto clearly has the better fan base in the united states. He has sold the all around more pay per views so he is more known to the public. Hatton is only known for his fight with Mayweather and he was knocked out in that fight.

I think word of mouth, and just the general consensus that he's the best in the sport is generally enough for people to get interested.
