Is there any other major sport without one?

Is there any reason combat sports would not have a "players" association?

Probably because combat sports doesn't have a governing body like the NFL or NBA or MLB has. And of course, money.

Isn't there JAB (Joint Boxers Association)?

I remember Joe Diaz talked about it.

It would be next to impossible to organize via a governing body in boxing; MMA may be different as Ultimate Fighters Association is possible and would have a larger impact.

It would have to be done outside of governing bodies, and may have to offer their own titles or give credence to one in return for an agreement. It would be tough especially to get the club fighters that would actually benefit.
