OK, firstly you may think i am a B-Hop hater if you have seen some of my therads i made about him. I'm not though, i actually do like 'Nard...and Calzaghe
I re watched the Calzaghe-Kessler fight and the Hopkins-Wright fight today to just give me a clear memory of the two. A lot of Calzaghe fans (me included) have said Calzaghe will get an easy, wide UD but since i have said this, my views have changed. That being said, some Bernard Hopkins fans have said he will win easily, which to me sounds ******. I think that this is will be one of the harder fights of Hopkins' carear (he may have fought better fighters, but he was younger then so...) and Hopkins is the first top ten P4P quality oppenent thst Joe Calzaghe has ever faced, also is probably the cleverest fighter he willl have met in the ring.
Firstly, Hopkins has the advantage that he has fought at the light-heavyweight limit in his last two fights, and even though one of them was not a natural and the other was weight drained..he has experience fighting with that much weight on his body. Joe does not and the extra weight might make him run out of steam quicker than normal. Also most fighters have trouble with Calzaghes southpaw stance which gives him a bit of an advantage, Bernard wll not have trouble with this, as the only peopel he has lost to were orthodoz fighter, he is 11-0 with 9 KOs against southpaws, probably due to his preference for the straight right hand.
However, Joe has the advantage of youth. He is getting old as well but because he has never fought in any wars his years do not show up as much, but he is still getting old as well. The added weight might make him turn old over night, its something you can never tell.
OK, I think that the first 4 rounds will belong to Bernard. Joe will come rushing in guns blazing leaving Hopkins to counter him, similar to the earlt stages of the Winky Wright fight. However, if calzaghe can do this but force bernard to work at a high rate this will wear Bernard down....even if he i snot winning rounds. A lot of Calzaghe haters do not admitt it, but Joe adapts well, in the Kessler fight early on he was squaring up after he punched and was getting countered, but he changed and took over. I think after 4, maybe 5 rounds he will begin to adapt. I think that if he forces a hard pace on Bernard in the ealry stages it will diminish the older mans stamina meaning joe can take over in the secong half of the fight. I honestly cannot say i think Bernard Hopkins will win, but if it did happen i could see why. i was being overly critical of Hopkins before and did not give him his dues, but Joe..who has not fought Hall Of Famers, is a good fighter no matter what you say and has got to be considered one of the best P4P in the sport today and one of the best in the super-middleweight division in history.
