    Boxer from Washington State dies

Two-time Washington State champion Raphael Ortiz passed away last night in Portland, Oregon. Raphael was 30 years old. Ortiz last fought 10 days ago, losing his belt to Mike Lucero in an eight-rounder in Ferndale, Washington. Raphael was taken to Oregon Health Science Hospital in Portland, Oregon two days later with flu-like symptoms. Ortiz was one of the most beloved fighters in the Northwest and a fan favorite at every venue he fought at, always making for exciting fights. His 13 KOs in 14 wins placed him at the top of the big punchers in his division, and he finishes with a 14-14-2 record in winning Washington State titles in two weight divisions. His two wars with Rob Frankel will be remembered as the best fights in the Northwest in the past several years. Raphael was trained by Jesse Ramos and managed by Wally Jorgenson. He leaves behind his wife Avelina and children Marcos and Ann Lee. Rest in peace Champ.

    R.I.P

It does not say exactly if it was from blows or if he just became really ill from something else. Either way its sad and condolences to his family.
