I was getting my car fixed and picked up a copy of Maxim. They talked about the Cotto vs Judah fight and they picked Cotto to win. Maxim is a national mag, so he is known outside the NY area.


Nowadays ,who is really known in boxing without newspapers or Espn showing you love. Fighters like the Marquez bros. are in a sense not knowned by true boxing fans. So, you could say they are only regional players.

Cotto speaks primarily spanish so that is a hinderence in terms of appealing to English speaking America. Cotto is improving his English and will in time be more marketable. Cotto is also not a thug or a loud mouth that will do things to attract attention to himself. He is soft spoken and respectful and in todays society that is viewed as weak.


If Roberto Duran was fighting today, in a world where boxing is no longer shown on free tv , he would be a local fighter and an unknown figure.
