Editor: How was the trip to Germany?
Roy Jones Jr: "The trip was great. The fans over there seemed highly interested in having me go over there to showcase my talents and put on a show with him. They know if I'm there it's guaranteed to be a good show. Right now I'm also hearing that this guy Silva is really talking about fighting me in a boxing match and I think that's bigger than Beyer. If he comes up again, I mean he got on his website that he wants Roy Jones Jr, if he's serious that might mean more to me than going to Germany and fighting Beyer. In Germany I know I'm going to knock Beyer out because that's the way I have to win over there. But with Silva, I know I can outbox him and be good. It would be smarter for me to fight I don't know his first name, but Silva first and then Beyer or the winner of Bernard and Calzaghe."
Editor: I don't think Roy Jones Jr should fight Silva.
Roy Jones Jr: "But it's going to be a boxing match."
Editor: You don't think that's a circus act though?
RJJ: "No. If he wants to box with me and get into a boxing match then that's what he wants to do."
Editor: What did you think about Beyer after getting a first hand look at him?
RJJ: "He looked really good, he was impressive and sharp. He looked good."
Editor: How would he look against you?
RJJ: "He'd look good for a few rounds, but after that I don't know."
Editor: Prior to the trip you said if the numbers sounded right that would be the fight you make. Did you get that far along to where you're already talking numbers?
RJJ: "It didn't get that far. They're supposed to let me know in a couple of days. But if it does get that far, that's what's going to happen."
Editor: It sounds like you caught a cold over there in Germany.
RJJ: "It's just my sinuses."
Editor: What's the latest as it relates to your discussions with Don King, what is he talking about?
RJJ: "Nothing. Nothing at all."
Editor: Are you empowered to make your own fights without his involvement as long as he gets paid?
RJJ: "Yeah, I do what I gotta do."
Editor: When might this Beyer fight take place?
RJJ: "June."
Editor: You're working with Smoke Gainer, tell us about that.
RJJ: "I got Smoke Gainer looking sharp as tact right now. He's right here next to me right now. He's looking real good and feeling real good now it's just about getting him the right opportunity."
Editor: Closing thoughts?
RJJ: "I love all my fans it's wonderful to be back in action. I've got Smoke back in the gym and where there's Smoke there's fire, so you know I can't retire."
