Saad Muhammad. He always seemed to come back from the brink of disaster. Check the Yaqui Lopez fights for instance.

I've got to say Battling Nelson too (my avatar). He once fought a headbutting contest. The combatants had their hands tied behind their backs and then the would go at it. Bat prevailed as his opponents skull cracked open. Who wants to do a headbutting contest??? .... anyone???...

Wheelchair: Why do you keep making those sick comments??

This is not exactly something that can be measured as there have been many gutsy and determined fighters over the years.

Chacon, Saad, Basilio, Gatti, Morales, Holyfield, Corrales, etc....

          Muhammad Ali.

Before jumping on me consider that we are asked for determination, not walking forward. Ali voluntarily took incredible amounts of punishment to win some important fights later on his career (Foreman, Frazier 3, Shavers...) when taking it was the only option he had left if he wanted the win. He fought 11 rounds with a broken jaw against Norton (1st time). He gave up a lot of money and fame and his prime to not do exhibitions for the us army (everyone who thinks he was going to fight in the war gets the naivety gold medal).

That was against Akio Kameda, though he did beat Antonio Cervantes as well. Cervantes was an all time great at 140 as well, though past his prime when Pryor beat him.
