    boxing>mma

and for people saying roy wins boxing. silva wins mma.

people forget, silva is trained in everything. Roy isn trained in mma at all.

still though, silva is going to feel a big difference when he get his by a boxer.

    I really hope this happens

it does sort of need to happen, just because no past it mma fighters have been to boxing before, but past it boxers have failed at mma, people need to realise though, a boxer cant fight mma just like a tennis player cant play golf .. we cant say which is the better sport, its impossible

I can understand why Anderson Silva would want to fight Roy Jones... Silva doesn't make much in the UFC, even though he is a dominant champion. He isn't a big name.

Even if Anderson is humiliated against Roy Jones, he would make a lot of money out of it and get to fight his idol RJJ.

I don't think it should happen though because it's a mismatch.
Anderson Silva is a decent boxer but he is primarily a muay thai fighter with solid boxing technique to back it up, Roy Jones has done boxing for his whole life and has been the p4p #1 in the past.

well these MMA fighters also know how to throw punches, plus the fact that RJJ is 40ish. Let him say that against Macca or even Glen Johnson for that matter. Yes Johnson has more heart than RJJ thats why I chose him, what about Haye, Jirov? I would love to see Kimbo vs Butterbean

Its real easy to make a challenge, but i doubt this would ever even be sanctioned anywhere considering Anderson Silva is 1-1 in the boxing ring as a professional.

Silva's stand up looks a lot better in the octagon when his opponent has to respect his knees and kicks. In the sparring his technique was much worse.

The only reason they say Jones is because they know he's old, past his prime, and has shown a very shaky chin. He also got knocked out by a southpaw. He wouldn't want to fight a guy like Calzaghe.

This would turn out the same way as the Trinidad fight.....a glorified sparring exhibition

this is like the 70th thread about this. anyway, is Silva is REALLY serious about this, then he should train for about a year for boxing only, set up some fights to build his record up from 1-1 so he can actually be considered a contender. that is if he really wants this to happen.
