Calzaghe wasn't on Jones's level 5 or 6 years ago. Roy was a multi-division P4P king who had unified the light-heavyweight divsion and Joe was just a European fighter holding on to a WBO belt asking for elite fightes to come fight him on his own turf like he was in a position to bargain with them.

Clearly things have changed and Calzaghe has moved up in the world which is why he is getting a career high payday in his very next fight.

To be fair this is the truth.

Agreed. It's a shame really that the big fights eluded JoeC during his supposedly best boxing years. I think much of the blame most fall on Frank Warren. However Warren has secured JoeC for life by making megabucks for Joe in Wales.

In the strict boxinghistory perspective JoeC's legacy might just be that he was a great fighter who could have been greater.
