Kessler vs. Miranda heading to Montreal? Why?

According to reports in danish papers today, the venue might be Montreal. It seems certain that the fight wont take place in Florida where 'Pantera' hails from.

Does anybody know WHY Montreal is the front-runner for this fight? Is it because Lucien Bute will defend his title on the same card???

    Why not the US??

If Bute or even Pascal is on the card, they'll get 20,000 fans for certain. It's unlikely to draw that many anywhere in the US. The Canadian dollar is very strong this year.

Boxing is very popular in Quebec, although not in the rest of Canada.

        Ditto what Tunney said.

Quebec is actually a growing hot bed for boxing. Boxing is alive and very well in Quebec.

Should be a good turn out.

canada is more welcoming of boxing than the US. to tell you the truth, it now seems as if the US has the weakest support for boxing right now.

Huh? Look at the recent fights in Atlantic City, Madison Square Garden, Las Vegas, etc. etc.

attendance it atlantic city is down. MSG really ony gets filled with Cotto or Vlad. Vegas? the onyl 2 fighters that can sell out vegas right now are DLH and Mayweather. Miranda/Kessler/Calzaghe/Hopkins/Taylor/Winky etc wouldnt be able to fill seats in those venues. You can only do big attendance numbers if you're a HUGE name in the US right now. Its not like that in other countries.

                  Just slap me for ignorance.

I just didn't knew that Quebec had so strong a boxing community. It does sound great if the fight would attract as big an attendance as mentioned above.

Btw I love Canadian hockey teams specially the flames and the maple leafs.

Don't worry about it not being "in the U.S." You have a South American fighting a European, why shouldn't it be in Canada?

This is not a specifically American sport, though the American networks still control much of it
