    How Gomez could beat Cotto

It's damn near impossible to pull out considering Gomez's skills but what he could do is: Early rounds (1-6) Cotto will be a wrecking ball and this is where he always does the damage he will capitalize later on the fight, so prevent this, hold Cotto's hands each time he tries to punch, make him chase you, sort of like Mayweather did to Hatton. If you succed Cotto will be worn by the 10th round and this is also where usualy Cotto starts to withdraw, don't let him. Chase after him and it shouldn't take too much to either stop Cotto or deliver enough damage to secure a UD. This takes alot of discipline and skill, it's not easy to tie Cotto because he's very strong.

Way to lose the fight, trade with Cotto early on.

This can work for two reasons: I've seen all Cotto's fights and two things i've never seen him do are: Hide fatigue and get back together after he's out of breath. And Cotto does tire alot which is very alarming for a 27 year old who holds nothing back.

Or he can have Tye Fields in his corner. Cotto would be too scared to leave his stool. Gomez wins by FEAR.

I think he should stick or flurry and move, never stay still. Throw in a few right hand and left hook leads and move, make it as boring a fight as possible. Trading with Cotto early plays right into Cotto's hands as Gomez isn't a big puncher.

He did that in basically all the UDS he got, with Mosley being the most obvious. If you can't complete 12 rounds at your best workrate when you are 27 will you get better at 28? How about 32?

That's a mistake. Stick and move works only for very light fighters (or Mohamed Ali) and in the meanwhile you will tire and still get hit if you are not fast enough on your feet. Gomez does have an height advantage over Cotto which means he can come in a bit heavier. He could try to tie Cotto up, that consumes less energy than moving for 12 rounds.

Gomez has to be in the best conditioning of his life and I don't mean dance around the ring for the whole fight, I meant throw a punch and move, make Cotto reset his feet and I agree, whenever Cotto gets close, tie him up. Gomez needs to fight at his range.
