The Spin: Miranda to pull out of Kessler fight?

Here is a little spin straight from the mind of Bat himself:

The official WBC supermiddleweight eliminator between Carl Froch and Dennis Inkin fight has been called off due to an undisclosed virus disease that keeps Inkin (WBC no. 2) out of action for the next several months. This leaves the no. 1 contender Froch without an opponent for the 29 march date.

To keep a fight on that date and to keep the fight an eliminator, the obvious thing would be to let the no. 3 contender step in. The no. 3 is former double champion Mikkel Kessler but he has said that he would need more time to prepare following a hand-operation from injuries sustained prior to the Joe Calzaghe fight.

Who can step in then? Well you'd better look out for statements from Edison Mirandas camp 'cause a fight with Froch makes a lot more sense, from his point of view, than the upcoming fight with Kessler. A win over Froch would namely catapult 'Pantera' to the top of the rankings and perhaps the WBC championship when Calzaghe decides to vacate. On the other hand a fight with Kessler is less rewarding while Kessler is a much better figther than Froch and more dangerous and doesn't even guarantee Miranda a titleshot this year.

I therefore think it very doubtful that Miranda signs to fight Kessler. We might be looking at Miranda vs. Froch late march or early april.

Kessler, who is the most deserving, will be the odd man out.

Perhaps the roar of the 'Pantera' is much bigger than its bite.

You make some great hypothetical statements. However none of it will materialize. Expect an announcement either today or by the weekend with details of the Miranda vs Kessler bout here in the USA.

Pantera wants to fight the best... he just does not say it, he wants it. Belts mean nothing. A win over Froch does not make him the best in the division. A win over Kessler and he is arguably the top 168lbs fighter (under Calzaghe).

Bull****, Kessler doesn't want anything to do with Pantera. Kessler is an hype job. Like Calzaghe. Why do we hold that guy up so much? I mean, who has befought??? In America? NOONE.

If Kessler-Miranda gets signed, big time kudos to both guys for stepping up. Kessler would be eschewing the comeback fight against a soft touch, and Miranda would be backing up his talk. This would be a fantastic fight for HBO WCB.

From HBO's point of view, Kessler - Miranda would make a lot more sense.

Because he just about cleaned up the strongest division in boxing before he met Calzaghe.

I hope a Kessler/Miranda fight gets signed. Would be an exciting fight and would be a good win for each fighter. If Kessler wins than it reinforces the fact that Kessler is the best SMW behind Calzaghe of course and if Pantera wins that would make him even more popular and huge fights would be in his future.

I'd much rather see Miranda step in for Inken to fight Froch. I think Kessler's too big a step up for him at this point...
