The G-Man and Hearns were both known for their powerful rights but they could both get the job done with short left hooks to the body/head as well.

You are misunderstanding. It is called smothering your punches because you are to close to deliver with full power. There is only one place to punch with full power.

if Gerald McClellan had'nt been smoothered by Nigel Benn he would have had him out of there inside scheduele trust me

Tszyu ,Hearns ,McClellan were most effective from distance

yes but u have to understand that applies more to fighters with longer reach generally ,i know Bowe was good inside but there are very few tall men that are as good inside as Bowe

i would hazzard a guess that most Brawlers throughout History have more knockouts than conventional Boxers who attack from distance & the majority of Brawlers fight where ,in close

dont underestimate the part physique plays in determinng the style u choose to adopt and what distance u are mrore effective from

Some of you are correct. When you say hardest I am assuming you mean the most power generated.
Depending on your physical stature, using certain parts of the body help you deliver your hardest puch. For a tyson, it's setting your feet and driving the force through your legs & ass etc.
Fundamentally it comes down to two things:
                1. Force = mass (depends on fist & glove size) x acceleration (rate of change of speed)
                2. Torque = force x distance (from where the punch is leveraged)
                3. Power = force x velocity

the most powerful punches are the ones in which you plant your feet and put your body into the punch while keeping you arm straight...

you use your legs to wind up and deliever the punch...a good strong punch doesnt come from your arms as much as it does from your legs...
