    Maxboxing and Boxingscene merging??

I just read that Maxboxing and boxingscene are merging.

Well this site was good while it lasted. Props to the boxingscene guys because I really do enjoy this site. I'm not the biggest Maxboxing fan namely due to having to PAY for content that should be free and what seems to be a west coast bias (read: they love Margarito) for some fighters.

I have a hard time understanding how a niche sport like boxing can have "pay sites" which at a time I myself was paying for but I found it not to be worth it.

Nonetheless, good job for the boxing scene guys.

      Boxingscene and Maxboxing Merging?

PRESS RELEASE: After a lengthy negotiation process, it was announced today that two of boxing’s internet heavyweights – MaxBoxing.com and BoxingScene.com – have agreed to merge in order to shake up the way boxing is covered, as well as consolidate the premier writing and multimedia staffs in the industry.

The deal, valued at an undisclosed seven figure amount, goes into effect immediately, with numerous changes, upgrades, and new features being implemented over the coming weeks.

Rick Reeno, founder and president of BoxingScene.com, will join MaxBoxing.com’s owners Doug Fischer, Thomas Gerbasi, Steve Kim and Gary Randall, bringing the top writers of his website with him.

“This was a move that made sense for two companies that possess similar strengths and share the same vision of presenting the most comprehensive, highest-quality boxing coverage to fight fans worldwide,” said Reeno. “We decided that together we could provide more to our visitors on a consistent basis, and the new features we have planned will be like nothing fight
      fans have ever experienced before.”

MaxBoxing.com and BoxingScene.com are currently home to the premier writers in the sport today. Staffers include Nat Fleischer award winners Michael Katz and Bernard Fernandez, BWAA award-winner and author Gerbasi, popular columnists Kim and Fischer, historians Martin Mulcahey and Lee Groves, and respected scribes like Cliff Rold, Jake Donovan, Brett Conway, Dave Sholler, and David Greisman.

The ground-breaking merger will not only assemble the most knowledgeable boxing writers on the internet together on one site, it will also bring more East Coast coverage and an international presence to MaxBoxing.com, a Los Angeles- based company that was started in 2001.

Both websites are known for their comprehensive video coverage of the sport and employ the best video editors in the industry.

The New York City-based BoxingScene.com offers more video content to fight fans than any other website.

MaxBoxing.com produces original on-going boxing-related programming that includes “Prospect Spotlight”, a monthly segment that features exclusive sparring footage and the complete fights of up-and-coming young boxers, and “The Next Round”, an innovative weekly web show hosted by Kim and Fischer that provides in-depth analysis of events in the world of boxing as well as fight highlights, training videos, pre-and post press conferences, and an interactive mailbag segment which involves viewers in the show.

.....Very interesting. I wonder who ultimately runs the show. I'm assuming Rick will be the man, but who knows. I could do without Steve Kim. I smell conflict and heavy flaming in the very near future. Still, it's going to be like the global merge. Everything should chill out eventually. In the long run I suppose it's a good thing. More boxing insight, more articles, more inside scoop, etc. etc. We shall see.

Maxboxing will more then likely run the show.. If not they would have merged into Boxingscene rather then us into them.. Plus they have more coverage and are a bigger website.

                  1. Seven figures? More like 35 dollars and a signed Pacquiao T-shirt.
                  2. Forums will not merge.
                  3. This will be great because IMO Maxboxing has the best articles on the web, and BoxingScene has the best news. Get Thomas Hauser here and you will never need another boxing site again. Except maybe *********.

I strongly agree with #3, and don't understand the paranoia in this forum.
