Now from what I read De La Hoya wants to have three fights this year and than hang up his boxing gloves for good...
So according to what I read... his plans are to face forbes on may 3rd, face mayweather in a rematch in september and he wants to have his last fight in december
thinking about this... I though of cotto
i like most people want to see cotto vs. mayweather but since that won't be happening, because i don't see mayweather fighting him at least this year... he will be fighting gomez on april 12th... i've also heard the possibility of cotto fighting the winnr of cintron/margarito and if that happens, beats one of them and he faces de la hoya in september
in my opinion, based on how things have ben going cotto is going to have to win 2 fights to get to de la hoya (if de la hoya beats forbes) so what I thought is if Cotto beats gomez... gets in talks with the winner of cintron/margarito for a july or august bout beats one of them and signs on to fight de la hoya in december
if cotto does that i think that will be the best time for him to get the fight with mayweather sometime in 09 and de la hoya gets his farewell bout and against a man i know i would like to see against de la hoya
