don't let them pull the wool over your eyes.

When ufc gets 400k plus ppvs I believe it cause I can pass by any mall and pass by the bars, sushi bars, hip bars, steak bar and grills, sports bars and they will have ufc posters and the joint will be jam packed with young white guys and hot white girls watching when you tap into the white demographic thats how you know something is mainstream and IN and hip right now.

I know about target market buddy and most people who watch boxing are old, and either too poor to afford ppv, while ufc did a smart thing it targeted upper to middle class whites, something boxing neglected.
How old are you 10? No one cares about the MMA **** in the NON STOP BOXING FORUM. You try to hype it in every post even if it has to do with boxing.

no bud you dont know nothing bout it! why you think at one time EMINEM was so famous? because dr dre said if I had a white boy with an edge who is a rapper the mainstream will get at it! that dude made 100 million in a year alone!

learn about it man, why else do you think the majority of ufc is white fans in the audience with tattoos, and bimbo blonde ****stars? because its the hip thing! its the extreme coolness sport right now.
I love boxing man but there is no denying the power of ufc, if you notice cbs, nbc and every big sports stations is getting involved because it reached the White market meaning the mainstream so that means its more accepted then boxing.

I dont wanna argue with you ok I am just stating observant truths.

I passed by this saturday before the fight at around 7pm cause I live a few minutes away from the mall to pick up some howies pizza and 60 piece sushi roll platter I reserved and guess what no one was caring about a pacquiao vs marquez fight....the only people who asked was some old filipino guy he didnt even fit in with the Frat boys and paris hilton hip chicks that go to that sports bar.
I felt bad for the old guy and his family I told him you should maybe look at a filipino resteraunt or something to watch it.

UFC is the fastest growing sport the general public especially white america need to feel they have a tough guy to look up to! the reason why many whites dont watch boxing is because they were consider a joke in it, now ufc came along and the young white teens can look up to some white champions and feel badass now.

          Learn about marketing Demographic man.
UFC isn't a sport MMA is a sport.

You should quit comparing them and making them out as if they compete, many fans enjoy both like myself.

I do feel that alot of the young white males that Jumped on the MMA bandwagon, were very insecure about most white fighters getting their ass kicked in boxing and really embraced the tough white champ. But after all the smoke clears and the champs isn't Chuck Liddell and Couture and they become Quintin Jackson and Anderson Silva will those guys sell the same amount of PPV?

Pay-per-view in Marquez title bout hits record $20M
              By Joaquin Henson
              Monday, March 24, 2008

From early indications, it looks like the US pay-per-view sales for Manny Pacquiao’s win over Juan Manuel Marquez will exceed 400,000 hits – the most ever in a fight involving the Filipino icon, establishing his stature as a major player in the multi-million dollar boxing market.

Pacquaio’s adviser Michael Koncz said yesterday Top Rank chairman Bob Arum couldn’t be happier with the results.

“We’re tracking 400,000 hits right now and the figures aren’t final yet,” said Koncz. “I’m not sure if we’ll reach 500,000 but going beyond 400,000 is already a major achievement for Manny. It’s the largest pay-per-view audience for any of his fights, more than his three bouts with (Erik) Morales and two with (Marco Antonio) Barrera.”

The 400,000 hits translate to $20 million in revenues with Pacquiao to get a share of at least $2 million added to his guaranteed purse of over $5 million. The gate of over 11,000 fans kicked in income of $3.3 million.

Koncz branded Marquez as a “sore loser” for refusing to accept his defeat by split decision to Pacquiao.

“They can’t blame the judges,” he said. “They agreed to the lineup. Freddie (Roach) even suggested to replace an original judge (Bill Flaherty) to avoid controversy since he’s a family friend. The replacement (Tom Miller) scored it for Manny but when someone checked with Flaherty, he also scored it for Manny in his personal scorecard. The American TV panel saw it for Manny, too. As far as I’m concerned, there was no controversy.”

Koncz said Marquez refused to shake Pacquiao’s hand twice after the final bell in their classic 12-round battle last March 15.

“What Marquez did after the decision was announced was to ask Manny for a rematch,” said Koncz. “Manny didn’t refuse him. All Manny told him was it’s up to his promoter (Arum) and his team.”

Dude! You're talking out of your ass again! Do you know that they can't exaggerate PPV numbers here because they have to pay HBO and all the boxers who have slices on the PPV pie and they'll be basing it on their released numbers? Do you really have a clue about what you said???
