    The Heavyweight Division is Improving

People were saying there's not enough clarity in the heavyweight division. Three weeks ago, we had five titleholders, but now we have three: Wladimir, Peter and Chagaev. Those three are obviously better that the two who lost their titles, Ibragimov and Maskaev. I don't see any mediocre heavyweight titleholders in the three we have now.

Furthermore, although some people are overhyping him, David Haye is clearly an excellent addition to the division. I've noticed on boxing forums, people seem to be eagerly anticipation seeing him at HW.

Another good thing is the heavyweight division is getting rid of the older guys but some are still there.

Ruiz, Vitali and Golota are all close to getting title shots, Moorer is somehow ranked by the title organizations and James Toney is planning a comeback.

The younger talent is up & coming and could use those older guys as stepping stones.

The worst thing right now is the quality of most of the fights.

Watching a HW fight at the moment is like watching paint dry, it's boring. It needs a serious kick up the backside.

The last pro fight card I attended, I remember the cruiserweight fight was highly entertaining, but the crowd started booing at the two huge heavyweights and their slow movements.
The problem is, most heavyweights that are 250 pounds, don't have to weigh 250 pounds, if they worked harder at getting into top condition, some of them could trim down to 235-240 (Peter as an example).

It may be improving, but in terms of one universally recognized champion we might still have ways to go.

Haye is definitely going to add some excitement to the division.

There's a dearth of personalities at Heavyweight at the moment, and I think Haye is going to change all of that. Let's face it you have Wladimir "I'll be back" Klitschko, Sam "Thankyou Jesus" Peter and Semi-Syllabic Ruslan Chagaev. Haye is fun.
