Juan Diaz, who has been aching for a mega-bout with superstar Manny Pacquiao, was dethroned of his WBO, IBF and WBA lightweight belts when he was decisioned moments ago by Nate Campbell in Cancun, Mexico.

Judges Bill Clancy and Joe Garcia scored the bout for Campbell, 116-11 and 115-112 respectively, while judge Ric Bays saw it 114-113 for the defrocked Diaz.

Meanwhile, on the same card, Pacman's former sparmate Raymundo Beltran impressively stopped Moises Perez in the ninth round of their duel for the vacant WBC Continental Americas superfeatherweight title.

Ex-heavyweight champ John Ruiz also decisioned Jameel McCline in their 12-round eliminator.

He was never going to face Juan Diaz anyway, he was going to go for the easier option in David Diaz.

Bob Arum said that Pac will fight Juan Diaz as soon as he is not with Don King anymore in 135 division in the future...

It looks like Marquez is the only one Mexican has high hopes for of demolishing Pac.. It looks like XCARET is very happy right now Diaz lost.

well isn't it dumb for u to comment that. first of all pacquiao came from flyweight while diaz is a welterweight who looks for smaller opponents to beat so he stayed at lightweight. but now he got his ass beat. meanwhile pacquiao a small guy going to lightweight after he fights marquez to prove that he is a tough cookie while diaz calls smaller opponents. now who is always going for the easier option.

I didn't say Pacquiao always goes for the easiest opposition, there was no talk that I know of up until I heard it earlier in the thread that Pacquiao was willing to fight Juan Diaz.

David Diaz does want to fight the best guys but he always seems to be the odd one out and all this talk of Pacquiao moving up to fight David Diaz was all after Morales almost beat him.

Right now, Juan Diaz is still the tougher opponent of the two Diaz', and David Diaz is the easier option.

He's too skilled, too big and it's no guarantee that Pacquiao's power would move up with him.
