Ronnie Shields injured!
By Lisa Scott
Ronnie Shields, trainer for lightweight champ Juan Diaz, slipped in the lobby of his hotel and fractured his right foot. He will work Diaz’s corner this evening against Nate Campbell - seated in a wheelchair. Shields’ injury is the latest incident in a string of tribulations leading up to tonight’s fight in Cancun Mexico, most notably the ongoing dispute between Diaz’s manager Willie Savannah and Don King. At yesterday’s weigh-in, King positioned several placards in front of the stage with messages that took shots at Diaz and Savannah. Regarding all the pre-fight drama, Shields told the Houston Chronicle: “There’s plenty happening around here. But Juan is looking good. He’s in great shape. He’s ready to go.”

Am I the only one feeling like Don King had something to do with this?
