Part Four Ends In Draw for Naito-Wonjongkam

By Jake Donovan - A 1st round knockout; a cuts-induced technical decision; a distance fight resulting in a major upset, and now a draw. There aren’t many themes left to unearth in the flyweight rivalry between Japan’s Daisuke Naito and Thailand’s Pongsaklek Wonjongkam. [details]

Good artcile, but I don't see him fighting Omar and Donaire unless he wanted to fight outside of japan. Japan doesn't recognize the IBF and WBO.

I'm still mad this was a draw though.

Good piece Jake; clearly his best cash option overseas is Koki. If Kameda can win, then I think we might see some bigger fights. His value in Japan makes him worth traveling to.

I'm optimistic that somehow the flyweights will be able to shed of what is accurately referred to as a "crippling inability" to get unification matches going. With the kind of money that Donaire and Narvaez have been making, it won't take too much to encourage them to fly Japan-side to take on Naito-- granting that Naito's people are interested. It's Naito's call, really.

        Or, yes, Kameda.

Here's hoping that the Japanese boxing fans will begin to look beyond their, and Asia's, shores and pressure Naito's (or Kameda's) camp to make the fights against Donaire and Omar happen.
