Please don't respond with "Mayweather didn't want to fight him", "Floyd ducked him" etc...I'm not in this to talk about Floyd, this is ABOUT MARG. This is a question that I would like to see answered.

Because I think that Cotto would hurt him, very bad. I'm not a Cintron fan, but he looks and sounds hungry (plus his trainer is a fam friend in Manny Steward) and he went hard to get this rematch....

but, please someone, name ONE ELITE fighter that he has beat..thanks.
It is not about who HE beat its about Who he will beat! but they was avoiding Margarita, its hard to be someone when you are feared man!

depends what you consider elite. What are Margarito's best wins?
Kermit Cintron, top ten fighter at 147.
Sebastian Lujan, was bottom top 10 when he fought Margarito
Joshua Clottey, top ten fighter at 147, is huge for a Welterweight and thought highly of by some people
Andrew Lewis, was a Welterweight champ who defended his title a couple times before losing to Mayorga, Margarito KOed him in 2 rounds and Lewis stayed out of boxing for a long time after
Sergio Gabriel Martinez, is actually considered top 10 at 154lbs at the moment, hasnt lost since Margarito
Danny Perez, has a win over Zertuche at Middleweight
Antonio Diaz, had a win over Ward...but also a loss to Mosley
He may have deserved a win over Santos, top ten at 154.

        its not a horrible record.

are these guys elite? Some of those guys you named, I HAVE NEVER HEARD IN MY LIFE! I follow boxing, I have been following it since I was a young boy, I'm now a young man. Perez? Segio Martinez? The definition of elite is: The best or most skilled members of a group...so you tell me

LoL...I know, but the first thing that happens on this WONDERFUL forum, is when Marg is mentioned, people run off at the mouth about Mayweather and how he "ducked" him. So I wanted to make it known that I wasn't talking nothing about Floyd, I was talking about Marg...

NAME ONE ELITE FIGHTER THAT MARG HAS BEAT IN HIS CAREER....

not my fault youve never heard of them. Perez is a bit of a stretch, but Sergio Martinez is a top 10 guy at 154, so I would say he is one of the most skilled people at 154...

I dont think Margarito has beaten any 'elite' guys, but then again, Floyd hasnt either since he fought Castillo. and he surely hasnt faced any 'elite' guys at 147 so far. but I dont throw around 'elite' very often. Please dont say De La Hoya...hes not shot, but he hasnt been at his best for a long time. I give Floyd credit for beating an at least top 5 guy at 154...top 3, really...but not a real win over a prime De La Hoya.

Its actually very rare that someone's opponent is going to have wins over 'elite' fighters.
but, I dont really think that, at this moment, a Margarito fight is necessary for Floyd. If Margarito ends up beating Cotto or Cotto ends up...somehow, haha...loses to Gomez, I think Floyd owes a fight to Margarito(If he continues to fight at 147)

ok, thanks for your input. I'm not going to talk about Floyd Mayweather. Because this thread is about Margarito. I am a fan of Mayweather, but he is not the issue right now...but thanks.
