Holy Smokes, Castillo at 147.5, must lose 7.5 lbs in 24 hrs

In an unusual occurrence, Jose Luis Castillo was invited by WBC President Jose Sulaiman to step to the scales after the heavyweights in advance of Friday's official weigh in for the lower-weight fighters. He tipped the Toledos at 147.5 pounds and will need to make 140 pounds by Friday's weigh in to qualify for the scheduled WBC super lightweight eliminator against undefeated WBC No. 1-ranked contender Timothy 'Desert Storm' Bradley.
that is nuts. Poor guy, he cant even make 140 pounds

No way he can lose that weight.

If he did somehow get to 140 he would be that drained there's a massive chance he'd lose.

yeah its sad, i saw there is already a thread on this, but that one was more about the heavyweight fight.

When it said "unusual" was that to try to give the Mexican a chance to make weight earlier than having to wait? Sulaiman close to Castillo?

Even if he makes the weigh he would have NO legs whatsoever, He needs to retire or moves to 147 were he wouldnt beat anyone but would make some money still because of his name, hatton has already use castillo and there would be more boxers who can take advantage of the samething.

This is very sad. If he doesn't make weight, his career will be ruined. If he does, he'll be too weak from dehydration to have a chance of winning.

Poor Castillo! this guy needs to retire real soon, I was hoping castillo would get his breack before he retire with a nice Payday because this guy deserves it he has fought some of the best fighters and never got that payday.

He can make it no problem... but it WILL effect him in the fight no doubt.

He's got to stop signing to fight at weights he can't make. It's not that complicated

Or even worse, he could be badly hurt. Castillo needs to be more realistic about his fighting weight or just retire.
