..PAVLIK VS LOCKETT: What Do You Think?...

Handlers of WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29 KOs) have reportedly decided on WBO mandatory challenger Gary Lockett (30-1, 21 KOs) as "The Ghost's" next opponent. The bout would take place on June 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York City or more likely at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City (which we've been informed is being held for that fight). Nothing is finalized and no contracts have been signed, however Lockett's promoter Frank Warren confirmed to the BBC that "We're in negotiations and hopefully we can do a deal with Pavlik's camp pretty soon."

Seems like Pavlik's handlers want to get a mandatory out of the way and an easy title defense in the process. Then after that he can fight Abraham later in the year.

I haven't seen Locket fight but he's probably **** based on what I've heard. I just hope that his chin is at least as good as Duddy's and he packs a good punch. Otherwise it would be pointless to watch.

Pavlik is in way over his head, this guy Lockett is a real killer. Pavlik is going to get KTFO. I'll bet all my points.

I also believe Ricky Hatton will beat Mayweather in a rematch and Tye Fields is the true p4p best.

It's a good move for Kelly Pavlik to fight his WBO mandatory, so he probably won't need to again until mid-2009 or so.

I don't know anything about Lockett except he has the best trainer in the world in Enzo, and he has only lost one close MD in his career. He's never defeated a top 50 middleweight, but then Gavin Rees had never defeated a top 50 light welterweight before he won the title from M'Baye.

I doubt whether he'll be a difficult opponent for Pavlik, but we can never know for sure.
