If Gary Lockett did beat Kelly?

    what would happen??

This would create a big dilemma for Joe Calzaghe who trains with Lockett??

Is Joe secretly gutted that Lockett gets a shot at Pavlik first before him??

    same goes for Enzo Calzaghe???

Will Enzo train Lockett as good thinking that Joe could fight Pavlik in kind of a REVENGE match for his team mate.

    This is very interesting.

Joe walks through Pavlik with ease and everyone knows this, he won't care if Lockett beats him. Not going to happen though....

I don't think Lockett could ever fight Calzaghe even if he did beat Pavlik because they are trained by the same person.

I think Enzo will try and get Lockett to fight similar to Joe against Pavlik and then he can see how Joe's style matches up, the problem is Joe is a southpaw.

Why would he have to see how the styles match? Pavlik is as one dimensional as Lacy was, if not more so. Calzaghe batters the poor guy senseless for 12 rounds or until Pavliks weak chin folds under the pressure.

And I'm not even spewing hate on the guy, I love Pavlik, he's a good exciting fighter, but if you try and tell me he beats Calzaghe, I'd be suprised you had the mental capacity to keep breathing.

I think this is good for the Calzaghe's because they get to have a trial run against Pavlik before the real event. Lockett is almost sure to lose, but the Calzaghes will get a close look at Pavlik and will almost certainly learn some good strategy (assuming Kelly doesn't get a KO in 30 seconds).

I'm quite sure Pavlik would give Calzaghe a tough fight.

Technically Pavlik won't be able to match Joe but Pavlik can keep up with the workrate of Calzaghe (not many can) and you are underrating Pavlik's ability to take punishment.

Pavlik is a tall, reachy guy with a strong jab and a powerful right hand, Calzaghe would certainly feel Pavlik's power. Pavlik just needs start going to the body more and he would have even more success.

This does not mean Pavlik will come even close to beating Calzaghe but it would be a tough fight.

I give Lockett a good chance against Pavlik. Gary can hit hard too, so it's a tough one to pick.

Lockett and Pavlik are two divisions apart from Calzaghe right now. Since Joe has said he only has a couple of fights left, I don't think this will ever be an issue. If Joe beats Hopkins he'll never look back at 168 again anyway.
