Steroids are steroids, and Roy Jones is a drugs cheat.

Before I start my little rant, I'm going to set the record straight that Roy is one of my favourite all time fighters.

Whether he knew he was doing it or not, he was still doing it. Steroids are banned because they give you an unfair advantage. Does not knowing what you are taking stop you from gaining this advantage? No, it does not. This is clear to see when he stopped taking it, and got KTFO, twice. Everyone who claims that this is only because he was weight drained from coming down from heavyweight, ask yourself this: Would he have ever been able to put on enougfh muscle to fight at heavy WITHOUT taking steroids? I hold nothing against him as I do think he didn't know, but it pisses me off that he is hailed as an all time great when he was fighting already lesser opposition with the advantage that such steroids would give you.

Sorry but if you take something they sell at GNC, and is LEGAL while you are taking it... they literally have little andro tablets hanging right by the checkout at GNC, that your own mother can buy... thats a little different then shooting up with a syringe.

Thats like you going to GNC right now, buy a supplement that helps with your workout... and 6 years later they ban that substance. And try to tell you everything you accomplsihed means nothing because you took that supplement. Thats bull****.

If you want to talk about true steroid users, then talk about James Toney and Fernando Vargas. The Steroids they used were Illegal before and after they took them.

I'll be brutally honest, it was when I read your thread defending him that I decided I was going to post this. Just because he could buy it over the counter, and just because he didn't know it was banned, does not cancel out the advantage he gained from taking it. If I took steroids, I would be stringer and faster. Roy Jones was famous for his speed and power....coincidence?

I totally understand your point about Toney and Vargas, but nobody attepts to defend them, why? They are guilty of EXACTLY the same thing as RJJ, using a banned substance that gives you the edge over your opponent. Just because RJJ didn't know what he was taking changes nothing.

As one of you Roy fans also pointed out. It became ILLEGAL in 2004, the year Roy Jones got KTFO twice.

Roy tested poitive in the Richard Hall Fight.. which was in 2000. That substance was LEGAL in 2000. It was no different then those little ephedra packets you could buy at the convenient store. He was taking it Legally, it wasnt banned when he took it. After 04' they went back and tested his samples for it, and thats when they found it in him...

Don't you also find it quite amusing that when they say "but he bought it over the counter you idiot lol " as if not knowing means he was not gaining an unfair advantage over opponents who were already a few levels below him. They shut up if you point it out, it cracks me up.

Add that to the fact that Richard Hall tested positive for the same thing, and has double what roy had, but was exhausted after round 4, and got his ass handed to him, tells you enough about it.

And losing 18 pounds of muscle in a 10 week training camp is definitely reason enough to be drained. I love how they use James TOney as an example as being drained when he fought Roy, but when Roys drained... its no excuse.

Yeah. Totally ignorant to the fact steroids are steroids. Lets not forget it was the fact Roy Jones had to lose 18 lbs "Pure Muscle" in 14 months that he lost, not because he stopped taking the legal steroids.

Would they go back and test EVERY previous sample if it didn't provide some sort of advantage? I highly doubt it.

I love RJJ too, but to defend a drugs cheat is bordering on being a nuthugger....

Roy Jones tested Positive in the RICHARD HALL fight in 2000, and was clean of that substance every fight AFTER that... a substance that was legal while he took it.

Now to shut down what you just said... AFTER the richard Hall fight, and being clean of that substance, he Stopped Eric Harding and Derrick Harmon, Beat Julio Gonzalez, and knocked out 28-0 Glen Kelly with a behind the back knockout, then Stopped Clinton Woods. With CLEAN tests. THEN he fought RUIZ.. Which his tests ALSO tested negative for...

And 8 MONTHS later, not 14 months later he fought Tarver. And you lose that weight in your 10 week training camp.. not 3 days after you fight Ruiz. He was dehydrated, he looked absolutely terrible and was tired half way through the fight.

Im not a nuthugger, Im a fan, and I see and understand what happened.
