Ricky doesn't clinch the way Paulie did in that fight. Paulie clinched b/c it was his only option for survival. Ricky also does work on the inside. Paulie was hit and grabbing for a great portion of the fight in an effort to run out the clock. Were there moments where he landed a punch on Cotto? Yes definitely. Unfortunately for him he was fighting not to get stopped for most of it. Is it impressive that he didn't get stopped despite having his head bashed in? Absolutely but people shouldn't be rewarded for getting their asses kicked if they're not putting it back on their opponent with any decent consistency. This fight was a tribute to his heart but not to his ability.

Don't matter if he has an iron chin, has he got an iron body?

You've also gotta take into account the size of the ring at MSG. Malingnaggi had a different plan in mind going in but once he got there and saw how small it was he had to change last minuite and decided to just try and cling more and go to the body (which with cotto usaully doesn't work). He compleatly rocked cotto in the 10th round or so, almost knocking him down, and nobody can disagree hes probally one of the toughest fighers in boxing. After the fight the entire side of his face was compleatly swolen and he jaw was broken and had to spend the rest of the night at the hospital after he was assesed at the post fight physical. The guys got heart, balls, skill, and speed and came extreamtly close to winning that fight. He took a massive beating and was still going strong in the last round. I'm not saying he could definatly beat Hatton, but theres definatly a chance. I would like to see Paulie fight somebody similar to him in speed, mabye somebody like Judah or Mosley. He's a ****y SOB but hes not a bull****ter and is able to back up what he says.
I see you saw the "Magic Man" documentary. Very nice I saw it as well. It is a tribute to his heart the way he got his ass kicked and took it. But the fact remains, he got his ass kicked. I'm not saying he doesn't have heart. I'm saying he had to clinch to survive. Did he have a gash over his eye? Yes that's what happens when you repeatedly get socked in the face. You can't win a fight by getting your ass kicked for multiple rounds. He gave a nice effort but was fighting to survive and justly lost the fight.

All my posts are rooted in objective ideas. If you've seen me on other threads you'd know that. I'll always admit if a fighter I like is slated for an asskicking.

Iv seen half of it, I got it off a ******* and like it just stopped playing half way through lol. He didn't get the gash from getting punched he got head butted in the first round, which screwed him over for the rest of the fight. He didn't get his ass "kicked" it was unamouis for Cotto but only because of the knockdown or two that paulie suffered in the first four rounds. If there were a rematch I think Paulie would definatly have a chance because now he knows how to handle cotto and knows what to expect. He doesn't have much power but he isn't as big as cotto and isnt the same magnitude a fighter as miguel cotto, but he certinly isnt a bad fighter. Cotto is undefeated right now so that doesnt mean that every fighter whos lost to him is terrible, Mosley lost to him didn't he? He's definatly amoung the elite at 147 and like I said is probally one of the tougher fighters, if not the toughest in that class.

Just in case anybody was swayed by the Ngoudjo fight, just remember that Herman had most of his success from the outside, not the inside. It was the long rights and left hooks from the outisde that caught Paulie off gaurd.

I still have Malignaggi winning. Another unimpressive performance might sway my opinion. That's why I hope Ndou can just go away because I think Paulie needs to prove himself against another guy.

I think Hatton would be to good for him and knock him out inside 10rounds.
