Zab's titles weren't paper titles.

Judah won the world titles from the linear champion Cory Spinks who had defeated Mayorga (Mayorga>Forrest>Mosley).

Judah also tried to unify the LWW titles with Kostya Tszyu.

You can say many things about Zab Judah but he isn't a coward and he doesn't want to be a paper champion holding one belt and defend it against mandatory challengers.
He fights the best opposition out there.

I'm not saying he's a coward.

The coward is Fake Floyd and I do reserve some bit of respect for Judah because HE IS NOT A COWARD.

That belt defined Judah for me atleast.

One night he beats the undisputed, linear champion of the world in a great performance of skill and athletic ability.

Zab just couldn't hold onto that belt for long... on another night he loses to a much lesser skilled fighter in an unmotivated, lackluster performance.

Kind of like most of his fights go, a great start and a lousy ending.

Judah has his losses but that's because he fights the best out there.

The only lesser skilled fighter he ever lost to was Baldomir.
Cotto, Tszyu, Spinks and Mayweather are all top fighters, no shame in losing to them.

This doesn't mean he is a bum but a guy who is willing to fight the best.
