    Floyd can beat Cotto...

    Floyd can..

Now I know, you're gonna post hunt and point out where I was on my riff on how Cotto should be fightin Floyd and how Cotto could win that fight.

But that was my point, it's "THEE" fight to be made. That ****in biblical "THEE", not "the fight," but "THEE Fight" to be made. It's that fair of a fight..

Now at the same time, Cotto can beat Floyd, and I personally choose him over Floyd. Floyd's arms are short, he's at his best when he punches pot shots, 2 shots at most.

Cotto is young, can hit you anywhere and hurt you. Floyd's worst nightmare.

Floyd hides behind his shoulder, great defense, yeah. Obviously thats a great defense. Thats an elite defense. That's a real defense, thats a defense that deserves respect.

...But what do you do when you do the shoulder D, and you fight a bald headed kid that can punch like a wrecking ball, leaving your body exposed and all?

I'll tell you what you do...

You make our sport corny and spend time "acting" in the wrestling, and you fight Oscar again (for another walk-a-thon, I had their fight even through 10 int he first fight), and you rely on another soft performance that leads to another conflicted decision.

Floyd can beat Cotto, but style-wise. I have to choose Cotto.

Now mind you this is my thoughts for a pre-Margarito/Cotto fight.

If Marg gets passed Cintron again, I can see Margarito givin Cotto problems. (I know, You're now sayin, he's Mexican, he's bein Biased, of Course he choosed Tony.) But as cliche as it always sounds, styles make fights. Especially in the lighter divisions. Tony is a legitimate tough guy and knows how to capitalize on his leverage...Cotto is smaller then him, nuff said on that. I can actually see Margarito gettin past Cotto.

But at the same time, I can see Floyd beating Margarito on body shots alone. But there's no way a weak ass lil Floyd KO's Tony lol.

          You're right about "THEE"

But on regards to the "short arms" :
          Floyd's reach is 72''
          Cotto's reach is 67''

I'm sure Floyd would wanna keep his distance and jab.

It's already news that Arum wants Cotto to fight either De La Hoya or Mayweather:

But more than likely, they'll be turned down.
Arum says: "Floyd ain't fighting anybody who could beat him no less hurt him like Miguel can"

To Floyd's credit, that's debatable. I mean, it's Arum, he's more than likely just tryin to rile up Floyd with those words: tryin to stir up Floyd's temper. (the only way to land the big fights)

Cotto fans SHOULDN'T doubt Floyd's quickness, accuracy, dedication to training, superb-frustrating defense etc. But Floyd fans shouldn't doubt Miguel Cotto either.

Look at the combination of these four at the top (mayweather, oscar, shane, and cotto)

According to the Mayweather/DeLaHoya score cards: Mayweather didn't kill Oscar.
          The DeLaHoya/Mayweather match-up was a close bout.
And If Shane Mosley BEAT De La Hoya, not once, but 2 times, that should speak volumes:

If Oscar hangs anywhere close to Mayweather, Shane beats Oscar, and Cotto beats Shane.
That should tell all of us boxing fans that if anyone has a real shot to take Floyd down, it's Cotto.

Granted all four of these guys have different styles, but
EVEN FLOYD JR. admits respect for both Shane & Cotto now.
Larry Merchant asked Mayweather TWICE about Cotto.
Both times he spoke instead about retiring. What he said made sense: "I wanna retire from boxing, I don't want boxing to retire me". That made sense, until the news about his possible September bout with Oscar.

Why is Mayweather "retired" when Cotto is brought up, but he's active for another DeLaHoya?

Look at if from his point of view: Oscars the safer route - "I'm familiar with his fighting style and I'll get another twenty five million dollar paycheck."
But on regards to Miguel Cotto, "Why should I take any risk of losing my perfect record for a smaller paycheck?"

The chances of this fight happening soon if at all are slim.
Cotto HAS to fight Nuzhnenko this year to officially keep his belt: http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=12268
But if we're lucky, someone will push Mayweather's button to get him in the ring with Cotto next year.

I am not going to lie, I stopped reading once you said Floyd's arms are short and didn't mention anything about Cotto's. Floyd's arms are EASILY longer than Cotto's who has very short arms for a guy his height.

              LOL you and me both

What I dont understand is how people think Cotto has one advantage over Floyd...

Whatever cotto can do, floyd can do it better

Im far from a nuthugger of floyds cuz I just want him to fight Cotto

But Im sorry Cotto just can't do it

One day Floyd will lose, but it wont be now, and it wont be to Cotto

If Floyd wins "I told ya so Floyd can beat Cotto"

If Floyd loses" I told ya so Cotto can beat Floyd"

                sort of like Emanuel Steward
