TOO BAD, BRADDMAN- I thought you'd understand. All who've seriously boxed, or are reasonably "savvy" re training and making weight, know what I mean, that "condition" and "conditioning" are not the same thing. It's common knowledge that after a tough fight, many boxers can lose up to 10-15 lbs depending on their weight class, conditioning, and local temperature.
I think Sugar Ray lost 9-10 lbs during his lt-heavy title fight with Maxim, where he collapsed from heat exhaustion, and he'd weighed-in well under
160. I don't mean Leonard.
If you're "walking around at near fighting weight" as another writer mentioned, this means that you're training daily to instant-fight needs, or maybe love that serious grind, OR, most likely, you could or should fight a class below. Eric Morales was a special case. He couldn't make 130 any more, but at 135 he looked flabby. Maybe, BRADDMAN, some fighters are human marvels, who walk around with NO FAT, and ALWAYS have the neccessary FIGHTING musclature ready -to-go. Or maybe, heavens forbid, he has TB or a similiar debilitating illness.
Other competitive animals such as racing greyhounds, or racehorses, in superb condition, are still not fit enough to win races until their muscles and wind are trained especially for it. You know
THAT. Well......don't you....?????
