My work is done here. I have provided facts and links and opinions that support the evidence that Cotto's numbers against Mosley aren't that impressive considering it was a fight everybody looked forward to.
Floyd Mayweather is the bigger draw. Now I'm gonna let the C + level Posters play around with Napo some more.
Here's how it can be done. Floyd is hiding behind all kinds of different excuses and alibis to duck Cotto. We know that.
now If Oscar gets some kind of injury in the Forbes fight and has to postpone or cancel the Sept Floyd rematch, then money may will be on the hook to fight Cotto the man he called a punching bag and who said Cotto knows he can't beat me.
If Floyd ducks Cotto in sept (if Oscar gets injured) then even the dumbest Floydfanboys would have to confess their man is a coward.
Let's hope Oscar gets hurt or says he has some kind of injury from Forbes because we know he doesn't really want the Mayweather rematch. then we may see Cottovs.floyd, the fight boxing wants most
First of all...
I WANT to see Floyd vs. Oscar II.
That fight was the closest floyd has been to losing a fight in a VERY long time. It wasn't action packed or a slugfest of some sort but it was strategic chess type of fight and was interesting (to me anyway) to see two completely different styles unfold in such a way.
Oscar could have had the fight in the bag had he not began to fade after the 7th/8th round. thats what cost him the victory. I also think with Floyd Sr. in his corner this time around it makes it that much interesting.
Secondly I think Mayweather V. Cotto will happen; its just a matter of time. I think the wait favors cotto actually. Mayweather gets a little bit older; his wrists/hands recieve more punishment with the de la hoya fight and training; cotto gets more time to sharpen his skills and be even more prepared.
As far as mayweather "retiring" goes i just dont buy it.
why?
A) he LOVES money and there is still a TON of money to be made with him versus some big names (like De la hoya; cotto; etc.) so it wouldnt be wise to quit just yet.
B) he's the p4p champion of the world. he is considered the BEST in the world and i dont see someone being considered the BEST in the world to just walk away. Floyd wont retire as the best in the world.
he'll ride out the p4p best title as long as he can (until he loses for the first time) and then will try to recapture the title of p4p best and then walk away. how many times have we seen a fighter be a champion in his division; fall out of his prime; lose; and then spend another 2-3 years fighting trying to prove he is still a force and then eventually retire?
it happens ALL the time. and i dont see floyd being different (especially with his pride of being the best).
Floyd is fighting oscar first...why? because thats where the money is...cotto will be either the next fight after that or the one after that.
we COULD see cotto v. mayweather in december or possibly jan if thats floyd's next fight...if not (he takes a tune-up fight or one just for quick money in between) then look for floyd v. cotto in may/june of next year.
i think it happens after the de la hoya fight to be honest...
if cotto continues to win then the fight HAS TO happen because he will be floyd's mandatory and i dont think floyd vacates his 147lb title...he loses the title before he vacates it...or retires...
when did I say I didnt like americans? I am against many things the american government has done
but I dont judge people solely on where they were born, unlike yourself, who feel a need to defend Cotto in the most irrational ways imaginable just because hes Puerto Rican
no because he is my favorite fighter. im sick of hypocrites especially on the internet. being puerto ricans or having puerto rican blood does not mean i have to be 100% biased.
which is the fight that needs to be made a welterweight??
who is the fighter boxing writer are defining as a ducker???
The Miguel Cotto-Shane Mosley PPV formerly known as "Fast and Furious" generated "a little over 400,000" buys according to Cotto promoter Bob Arum. Arum also stated that the Pacquiao-Barrera rematch generated 350,000 PPV Buys. (3:18 PM EST)
Still, like I said...the mosley - cotto fight was supposed to do more then Baldomir - Mayweather's 350k. Nobody was looking forward to that fight and thought it was boring. Everybody were amped up for the Cotto - Mosley matchup. If didn't break 350k, it would have been an embarassment.
BOB ARUM WONT RELEASE THOSE NUMBERS TO THIS DAY...
I'd like to say that Mayweather is the man at Welterweight. If he wasn't then why is everyone calling him out?
No one would perfer to fight Cotto over Mayweather if they had the chance. And that's not because Cotto is the bigger puncher. It's because Mayweather brings more $ to the table.
do i look like i give a **** if u understand me or not???
You look ******ed, but thats beside the point. The point is that you're an idiot. Not because of where you're from (because its wrong to form opinions based on where a person is from), but because of your dumbass factless statements.
