De La Hoya: "Hopkins Will Beat Joe Calzaghe"

In a recent interview with Sporting Life, Oscar De La Hoya, as one may expect, picked his Golden Boy Promotions partner, Bernard Hopkins, to beat Joe Calzaghe on April 19 in Las Vegas.

What else can DLH say? Hopkins is a partner at GBP.

Didn't DLH pick Hatton to beat Mayweather?

He mentions that some of Calzaghe's previous opponents figured him out. But then why didn't they beat him?

It's pretty much always safe to ignore anything that comes out of DLH's mouth. He only says things that will somehow positively impact his bank account. He doesn't make statements for any other purpose. Much like any promoter but still true nonetheless.

If u like DLH or not,he made alot of points which are true,Hopkins is one of the best thinking fighters, and sometimes Joe does throw alot of punches leaving his whole jaw exposed,u cant do that against Bernard,he'll just step back and counter with the right hand

Im picking Calzaghe to win,but Hopkins is a master boxer,he can find ways to win, remember Calzaghe vs Bika? Bika was dirty,he roughed Calzaghe up,Joe got frustrated and couldent dominate the way he wanted to,Jaidon Condrington put more of a beating on Bika then Calzaghe did, mainly because Bika wasnt dirty in the Jaidon fight,if Bernard uses all the tricks up his sleeve, who knows what will happen and how Calzaghe will respond

DLH is just trying to generate more money for the fight by claiming Hopkins will win seeing as most people seem to be on Calzaghe's side.

I fully expected him to say this but I doubt Bernard will win.

I guess their business partnership would suffer somewhat if he said anything other than Hopkins winning.
