I wanna see this bum fight a real champion. Since Joe C is going up to light heavyweight. Why not match Mundine vs Bute to determine the new man to beat at SW. Hell have that fight in Montreal it will get at least 15,000 strong maybe 20. And giv'er a HBO BAD and you got yourself a big championship fight. Though I doubt Mundine would go more that 4 rounds with Bute.
I agree with what you are saying. He will never step it up.

if he did though i would pick him for a UD over Bute. He would jab, hit and move. Hes very quick. A lot of people think he has faster hands than Joe C.

But FCK. Soliman again. Damm. Im dissapointed.

If it does happen, this is as pointless a match as any, he destroyed Soliman in their last fight, Mundine has to fight better opposition.
Destroyed is an under statement. He nearly killed the poor fella.

Its widely being stated he will have a rematch with Soliman in all Australian news papers.

He better not though. Or all **** is gonna be thrown at him from the aussie boxing public.

Mundine wants to go global, but first come the lucrative Soliman, Green rematches

Mundine wants to go global, but first come the lucrative Soliman, Green rematches

        February 29, 2008

ANTHONY Mundine's next major bout is set to be a rematch with Sam Soliman in Melbourne but the WBA super middleweight champion has his sights set on future fights overseas.

After winning a unanimous points decision over fellow Sydney boxer Nader Hamdan on Wednesday night, Mundine said he had told his management team he wanted to fight on the international stage.

But he has unfinished business in Australia as the deals for his fights with Soliman and Danny Green both contained rematch clauses, and negotiations are understood to be already under way to schedule these.

With the 2006 Mundine-Green bout the biggest grossing fight in Australian boxing history, followed by last March's world title showdown with Soliman, other parties are also keen for the rematches to go ahead.

However, before his gruelling 12-round win over Hamdan, there had been doubts about whether Mundine would return to the level he reached when he beat Soliman to regain the WBA belt. He ruptured a biceps last June and then suffered an eye infection that threatened not just his career but his sight.

"I have ducked no one in my career, I have fought the best that have come out of here - Danny Green, Sam Soliman - and I'm looking to go international," Mundine said.

"I have put it on my manager, Khoder Nasser, 'Let's shake up the world'. Who he matches me up with, I don't care. I'm ready for the best in the world."

Soliman, who moved to Los Angeles after his success in The Contender reality TV boxing show, wants to avenge his ninth-round loss to Mundine.

His manager, Stuart Duncan, said that if a rematch were held in Melbourne, where Soliman would have the hometown advantage, his man would give a much better account of himself.

"We're saying … this time, why don't you grow some balls and roll down to Melbourne and have a crack at us," Duncan said.

The Soliman camp believes it lost focus before last year's fight, and concentrated on the goal of knocking Mundine out.

"Sam got caught with what I can only describe as a lucky punch," Duncan said. "Sam's never [previously] been stopped in his entire career and he never regained full composure from that punch in the second round."

Mundine believes he would again win and said Hamdan was a far tougher opponent than Green or Soliman.

"He is tougher than them two because this guy is a lionheart, the other guys, they say they've got heart, but when it gets down to the nitty gritty … Nader is a lot more awkward than Green, and Soliman doesn't have the boxing skills he has," Mundine said.

        ■ Australian trainer Jeff Fenech has explored a possible re-match of the infamous Evander Holyfield v Mike Tyson "bite" fight, AAP reports. Holyfield revealed Tyson wanted a third fight with him and used friend and trainer Fenech as a go-between.

"There has been some talk between us," said Holyfield. "Mike had Jeff Fenech, who's been training him, call me a few months ago.

"Jeff says Mike wants to fight me again - but he needs to know if I would agree to it. I said, 'Yeah, if the price is right, I probably would'."

You know it says about a rematch with Danny Green? I'm pretty sure that he is the WBA light heavyweight champion now, So I don't understand why it says he will have a rematch with him.

LOL the lucky punch that floored him four times. And was landed 30 times every round.

What a dumb ass. Soliman is just as dumb. Hes going to get seriously hurt. Mismatch.

Im driving to Mundines house now.

Mundine will fight him at LHW in Perth. He will still win that. Hes also prepared to drop down to MW for a title shot.

This is what pisses me off about him. I would pick him to beat anyone but Kess and Joe C at SMW. Including beating Bute.

And at MW he would be a handful and at LHW.

Yet hes fighting Sammy Soliman. More vomit just went on my computer screen.
