Lucian Bute and boxing are popular in Montreal!

I just read that the Bell Center in Montreal has been all but sold out for the Bute vs. Joppy fight tomorrow night. There will be at least 14,000 fans watching...

When Bute faces a more difficult opponent like Edison Miranda, Carl Froch or Jermain Taylor, it will make good business sense to have the fight in Montreal. It seems the popularity of boxing is very strong in the French Canadian city.

Any word if this will be televised in the states?

Joppy is pretty much done, but I would like to watch this card especially since it's getting some big support in Canada.

It's televised in Canada, but not here in the US. However, I have a link to a legal stream where we can watch it live on the internet. I will post it in this thread tomorrow a couple of hours before the fight.

I remember the Bika fight and the place where they were at was packed. It seems like Bute is a big attraction up there.

Bute is a HUGE draw in Montreal. But Canadians have been loving there boxing as of late.

Montreal's bell centre is packed for any Bute fight, and was also recently packed for people to watch WBA 154 champ Joahcim Alcine defend his title.

In Ontario they have IBF 122 champ Steve Molitor and be jam packs a 5,200 seat casino for all of his defences and that is also airing in Canada.

The fight will be aired in Canada but no word of anywere else.

The website of the French TV station in Canada that's showing the Bute vs. Joppy will also be providing a simultaneous internet stream on their website. I watched the Bute vs. Berrio fight there and it was a good quality stream. Here's the link:

              Time of the broadcast:

              7:20 pm Pacific time
              10:20 pm Eastern time,
and 03:20 GMT on Saturday morning in Britain.

Montrealers are a very passionate and loyal bunch. we love and support our fighters and recognize niche entertainments. we have some small time fights here compared to boxing overall, but if you would attend some of the live fights you'd think that guys like Bute are the biggest and best boxers in the world the way we cheer and sellout arenas.
